Publisher's summary

The mafia south of the Mason Dixon line is ruled by possessive, controlling, dangerous, alphas. Except for one. Saxon Houston has grown up the best friend of the mafia boss’s youngest son. He knew one day he’d have to play a role in the life his father and grandfather are a part of. However, he much preferred dealing with raising and training the thoroughbred race horses side of the family business.

When he falls hard and fast for a girl that ends up being the enemy’s sister, he’s ready to defend her innocence. However, she shuts him out completely. Where the girls before her had failed, Haisley Slate managed to crush him.

Two months later… when he opens the door to his hotel room and she stands there wearing a cleaning uniform, he is cruel. Seeing her makes him feel and he no longer allows that emotion when it comes to her.

There is one issue though… She’s pregnant and it’s his baby.

Yes queen

Yes so GOOD. Saxton and Haisley story was so good. After running into each other at a hotel both their words get a turned upside down. It was great to see Saxton finally get his story. The way he wanted to hate her and deep down he knew he wanted her. I hate that it took so long for him to know the truth. The tension between these two was so good. I loved how he protected her from those snobs. I loved getting to see my other people from her series. The narrators were amazing that southern deep accent on Saxton was soo delicious. The tone the narrator used when she expressed Haisley being pissed was so spicy I loved it. Great job 👏🏼

Saxon the good guy

Saxon is the “good” guy. He is pretty easygoing compared to the other guys. He is not psycho, ruthless or a killer until you mess with Haisley. They met and he was totally gone for her. A threat and some miscommunication caused a short separation. Now Haisley is pregnant . Saxon steps up like the man he is.
There is drama and pushback on both sides. Haisley seems like she was a pushover but she has a backbone. 20, pregnant and on her own, she made it work. She didn’t stand around for handouts. I loved how she grew stronger throughout the book.
The narrators were great. Made the story much more enjoyable.

This one was a great one

It was different because Saxon doesn’t go all crazy alpha like a lot of the others. I kept expecting her to put Levi and Kai but she didn’t which was a twist. I also expected the test, but it kind of fell apart on Blaise and the guys when AJ moved up the plan. Overall a great book that still pulls you in.

I liked the females voice on the audio and liked the males voice however it had some parts where his voice didn’t sound great, like when Saxon got highly emotional.

Hot Indeed

This might be my first Ryan Lee Dunlap title and that voice is perfect for a dark cowboy!

Smokin' Hot is part of the Smoke Series by Abbi Glines, which can be read alone (it is book 7). However, I enjoyed it so much that I'm going back to book one as soon as possible! Saxon is broody, but when it comes down to caring, he is where it's at. He is a great fit for a Cinderella story. The spice in this one be smuttin'!

Great Narration

Another great book in the Smoke Series! Smokin' Hot is book 7 in the series, and it's Saxon and Haisley's story.

The story was well written and the characters were great as usual. I listed to the audiobook, and it made the story even better! Kyle Lee Dunlap and Vivienne La Rue did an amazing job with the narration! Kyle Lee Dunlap has become one of my favorite male narrators after this book!

Smoking❤️‍🔥Hot Perfection! Amazing Story & Listen

I can not get enough Abbi Glines’ amazing “Smoke” series and its fabulous characters, and this seventh book brings up Saxon Houston and Haisley Slate’s story and wow, what a story it is, one that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. Saxon may not be mafia by blood, but being best friends of the mob boss’ son makes him a part of it, just like his father and his father were. He works with their thoroughbred racehorses, but knew he would have more involvement as time goes on and that time catches up to him sooner than later and it may cost him the very thing that captured his heart. Saxon and Haisley’s relationship was short-lived, but he had fallen hard for her and her ghosting him left him bitter. Except her leaving was not a choice, and she is running scared, so when she realizes she is pregnant she does not want to tell the father, and her mother throws her to the curb, and she needs to find another job and place to live. Saxon runs into her at her new job and is still bitter, but the crew finds out what is going on with Haisley and tells him about her pregnancy, and as soon as he learns the baby is his, he takes her in. Haisley comes from the other side of the tracks, but she is a caring and honest person, not looking for a handout and does not have a manipulative bone in her body. It takes Sax a little longer to get past his bitterness, but once he does, his possessiveness kicks in and we see his caring heart, too. The only problem in their relationship and for the Hughes family is her brother AJ, who is trouble, and it was fine when he was staying out of the picture, until he shows up again. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all plays out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. And like the earlier books, the writing, plot, world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. As always, it was great to see characters from the earlier books again. Abbi Glines, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Abbi Glines continues to choose the perfect cast to bring her characters to life. Ryan Lee Dunlap and Vivienne La Rue did an amazing job voicing the characters and their portrayal of each was spot on. Dunlap nails it as Saxon, grasping every aspect of his personality, from his angst to his caring side and all in between and La Rue is just as fabulous in her role as Haisley, showcasing her personality perfectly. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. These two made a great team, their voices and talent complement each other and their performance elevates this already fantastic story to another level. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

Such a fantastic story

I received this as an alc from Wordsmith Publicity and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This was such a fantastic surprise pregnancy romance. It was a really well written story with fantastic steam and a few surprises along the way. I have been curious about Saxon from the very first book in the series and it was even better than expected. He showed some different sides of himself in this book but I loved all his facets. Haisley was introduced in “Whiskey Smoke” and she intrigued me from the beginning. She was a great match for Saxon and I loved their story.

Audiobook review: This was such a well narrated story and one that I just couldn’t get enough of. The narrators were very well paced and I was able to get completely lost in the story.
