About this listen

Who does that sexy silver fox think he is, sitting in her spot in the Busy Bean Cafe?

Over 40, with zero filter, Rita Kaplan loves her coffee, her hiking boots, and her law practice. Life hasn't always been carefree, though, and Rita's past holds the scars of poor decisions after deep loss. She survived, though, and no smirky silver fox is going to get in the way of her happiness. Even if he knows how to use his drill, screwdriver, and every other tool in his box to tempt her....

Former arson investigator Jake Drummond could add ex-con to his resume if he had one. Instead, he's serving the final year of his sentence on probation. This involves mandatory AA meetings, hosted by a feisty local attorney, and working on a renovation project, supervised by the same annoyingly attractive whirlwind, who also believes she owns the exclusive rights to a comfy couch in his new favorite coffee shop. Soon she's everywhere, including the few places she shouldn't be - like in his bed and in his heart.

Can opposites lower their walls and construct something everlasting...or will their connected past lead to demolition for two hearts in need of a rebuild?

Contains mature themes.

I wanted to like this ..

The narration was hard to get through, mostly I felt the gentleman voice fell flat but I’ve definitely heard worse.

I was excited for Rita’s story, I really enjoyed her small part in May’s and Scarlet’s stories. The struggle was with the plot twist.. I won’t spoil it but I found it very frustrating that they just moved on from something so huge. I believe in second chances and that good people make bed decisions, It felt kind of unrealistic.. and like they were too easy on Nolan. I think I wanted him to be remorseful.

Idk.. Rita is still awesome, a badass with a good heart, and I’m glad she found Jake. Nolan is on my shit list though..

beautiful book!!!

I love this book so much! Complex and well-written characters, addictive plot, fast-paced, wise, poignant, romantic, sexy, sweet! Excellent narrators too! I'm going to listen to it more than once!!!

Studfinder - Saves the Series!

Thank goodness for L.B. Dunbar and Studfinder! The series is redeemed…IMO.

I was so sorely disappointed in the previous two books that I almost “shelved” the whole dang thing…even if the first couple of books were amazing.

However, I love everything from LBD so far…I hoped Studfinder would restore my faith…and it did.

Loved the story, even if I don’t agree with the premise of someone not taking full responsibility for their actions…it was still a dangerous form of codling that doesn’t allow someone to truly learn from consequences.

Anyway…this one’s fabulous. Enjoy💖

Narration could use some work

The narration isn't the best, but I've heard worse. It felt more like the male narrator was just reading at times with no investment in the character. The story itself was plausible, but definitely not my favorite in the series.

Not the best Audio performance

Disappointed at the reading of the story… and reading, not performance of the story. Hard to listen to both of the voices reading the story. Kinda like they wanted to get it over with.

Awful narration

Narration ruined what could have been a decent story. I made myself finish it, but it was a struggle.

DNF

The narration wasn't good, especially the male reader. So much so, that it detracted from an already weak offering.
I loved the True North series and the idea of individual authors contributing to the story line was intriguing, but I haven't enjoyed it as much as the True North Series by Bowen.
