About this listen

From USA Today and number-one Amazon best-selling author Jeremy Bates comes a tale of mystery and horror set in Japan's ancient Suicide Forest, a place that is easy to enter but, for some, impossible to leave.

Just outside of Tokyo lies Aokigahara, a vast forest and one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in Japan...and also the most infamous spot to commit suicide in the world. Legend has it that the spirits of those many suicides are still roaming, haunting deep in the ancient woods.

When bad weather prevents a group of friends from climbing neighboring Mt. Fuji, they decide to spend the night camping in Aokigahara. But they get more than they bargained for when one of them is found hanged in the morning - and they realize there might be some truth to the legends after all.

Contains mature themes.

Horrifying plot!

the story was ok... the ending was weird and abrupt, making the whole thing seem like an anti suicide PSA. i feel as though the author seitched directions 3/4 of the way through and decided to go with a different idea.
i was in until then, after that i started to lose interest.

Good story, the beginning is a little slow. Nothing too crazy happens until almost the end when you learn what really is going on. It was a good book though, I would recommend it.

Good story

Enjoyed the story and it kept my interest. It could be long winded sometimes though. Narrator drove me crazy. The voice over for the characters was awful. I had to switch to kindle for the read.

Good story. Awful narration.

Holy Moly, this book was INCREDIBLE. I was immersed in the characters and in the setting of Aokigahara forest. A brilliant, chilling, gut wrenching, satisfying book truly. I would absolutely recommend as a must read for suspense/mystery readers!

very well written, I did not expect the ending at all and that is tough to do as an avid scary story reader.

Good but I wish this book had started around chapter 38. The narrator was easy to listen to.

I enjoyed this book, there were parts of the narration where I felt like I was listening to a YA novel then anything but it was hard for me to decide if I just wasn’t into the narrator or I would have felt the same way if I was reading the book myself. The twist to the story was certainly worth pushing through the parts I thought were a bit tacked on. I will check out more by this author.

Very dark, pretty gruesome
