About this listen

Tanner thought church camp would be boring. That this summer would be forgettable, uneventful, and lifeless. Then, he was surprised to make two friends, both of whom share his interests and anxieties. Together, maybe the three of them have a chance of surviving this long, hot summer.

But all is not what it seems at Creston Camps.

Deep in the woods, there is an abandoned cabin. Inside of it lies a dark, wicked secret. A human evil that will shock Tanner and his friends to their souls.

Summer never ends this year.
It only gets worse....

From the author of PSYCH WARD BLUES and BEAST OF BURDEN comes a dark coming of age story....

Critic reviews

"As someone who was forced to go to church camp (aka the weekend from hell), this reading experience was CATHARTIC" (Mique Watson, author of BE MY FRIEND)

"This one has the potential to be a career defining book for the author." (John Lynch, author of THE WARRIOR RETREAT)

"A dark and brutal novella with themes of religious hypocrisy and the lengths a parent might go through to protect their children, which in the case of this book is way, way too far." (Duncan Ralston, author of WOOM)

I like Judith Sonnet’s writing style. It felt a bit rushed, but pretty great for a shorter story.

I read The Home by Sonnet as well, and parts of it I loved and other parts weren’t as good, but overall it was a good work, but it also was rushed a bit I feel, but this is author still delivered on some of the darker horror I’ve ever read.

I’m sure this book doesn’t need another trigger warning, but I’ll throw another out anyway, this is extreme horror and it involves kids at a Christian summer camp.

It speaks on many things about religion and what it might be like for people who are different being forced to attend or believe in/worship/pray to a god you don’t want or need or believe in, and it’s also a heck of a horror story.

So buckle up if you decide to read this with of extreme horror.

I think I’m going to buy/listen/read Psych Ward Blues next and also No One Rides for Free.

So overall I’d say that Sonnet is definitely worth reading, even if there are some minor drawbacks, it’s always cool and fun to see an author grow right in front of you in “real time”.

Summer Never Ends by Judith Sonnet was better than I expected. 3.7/3.8 stars overall for me.

Judith Sonnet can write a story! Joe Hempel can narrate like no ones business. This was like Sleepaway Camp on steroids. Fun book lots of blood and grossness. Just the way a book should be written.

No camp for me

Judith Sonnet never misses. This is a quick and terrifying summer camp tale that feels like it could be all too real.

Perfect summer camp horror story
