About this listen

One night of complete surrender is all it takes.

Gareth Harris is Manchester United's reclusive star defender. He has control over all aspects of his life. But a lifetime of supporting his siblings and filling in for an emotionally absent father has taken its toll.

Sloan Montgomery is a clothing stylist whose world was turned upside down when she found herself pregnant and moving to Manchester with a man who was never supposed to be her forever. Now recently divorced and struggling with shared custody of her daughter, control is a fleeting concept for this American living in England.

Both Gareth and Sloan are in need of a release. A moment in time where they can forget about their pasts and family pressures...and just...surrender. No one could predict what happens when both of their defences are down.

Surrender is part one of the Final Harris Brother Duet and concludes with Dominate. This duet is a great listen on its own, but to maximize enjoyment, check out the first three brothers books in Challenge, Endurance, and Keeper.

Gareth!!!

I love this series and the Harris family. Gareth’s story was long awaited and I have read it several times now. This was my first experience with the audible version. Will Watt is fantastic, but I struggled with the female narrator in this one. Her voice was almost too robotic, especially during the love scenes.

Gareth and Sloan!

This is the moment that anyone who reads the series has been waiting for and that is to finally get to know Gareth. He has always been the sibling that everyone came to for help and guidance and he bears the problems of the family on his very sexy shoulders. From the moment he met his stylist Sloan they had an instant connection and became friends as well.

The only good thing about leaving the US to come to England was Sloan’s career. Although she wouldn’t change a thing, an accidental pregnancy resulted in a disastrous marriage where she was constantly told she was not good enough and she is now facing a divorce from her cheating husband.

Once Gareth finds out about her divorce he becomes her confidant and support system. They both have painful pasts which only brings them closer and your heart just breaks for them. It is great to catch up with the rest of the clan and although there is a cliffhanger the good news is that we will get to experience more of this amazing couple in the second part of this duet.

I thought the narrators did a great job of bringing the emotional part of the story to life. I voluntarily reviewed a Complimentary Copy of this book.

I was sucked in!

I enjoyed this story very much. I've never read or listened to Amy Daws work before. I was annoyed by the cliffhanger but that's a me thing. I plan on going back to book one.

Wow!!

Understand why the Arthur left this Harris brother for last. While the other books have been great and amazing love stories. This one has so much depth. I have found my self crying several times but also laughing. Glad I waited till both books were released because what a cliffhanger!! Also, the narration is AMAZING!!

Say What?!!

I was thankful to get another glimpse into the Harris Brothers life and family. All of these books have a great feel to them. Gareth has had me intrigued from the get go. It’s not exactly what I thought the story was going but I was happy. It ends with a bang at the end of this book and it will make you want to head straight for Book two to get the answers.

I found this book to be quiet enjoyable with the dual narration. Being an Aussie, all the accents sound great to me. But it’s like listening to a book in 3D.

Harris Perection

Gareth and Sloan are through with denying and surrendering to fate. Sloan upended everything to follow her husband to London. When she learns of his less and fidelitic ways she is heartbroken and left trying rebuild as they truly only married for the sake of her pregnancy. Thankfully she has her stylist career to fall back on as the unrepentant snake showed no remorse whatsoever. When she shows up at Gareth’s place with his clothes, he can instantly tell something is amiss with her no matter how much she tries to protest and keep it professional. Gareth has always been the Harris rock. After his mom, his dad basically checked out leaving him and Vi to take the reins while his dad lost himself. He has his hands full with his family and his team which leaves him little time for much else. When Sloan comes in clearly out of sorts he knows he cannot let it lie especially when he notices her ever present wedding ring missing. This Harris installment is filled with passion, depth, and family we have come to know and love but this is part one of the duet so buckle up for the cliffhanger!

Passion and vulnerability

This book was absolutely incredible! The vulnerability, the raw passion, the connection that Gareth and Sloan share is awe-inspiring and off the charts. To see these two characters go from shells of themselves to finding each other and embracing their true shelves is truly wonderful to experience.

The emotions that couple brought out in me was intense. I felt everything this pair felt, like I was not only along for the ride but a part of their story, experiencing their thoughts and feelings.

I know there is still another book to read, but I’m already sad and terrified to see this story and this series end.

Gareth Harris - family rock

When I started this duet I knew I was in for an emotional side. Amy set up Gareth’s arc to be the most heart wrenching but also the most predictable. If you read the rest of the Harris Bros books you know he’s been linked to his ‘stylist’ Sloane previously but always denied anything beyond a completely professional relationship.

We as the readers didn’t know much about Sloane coming into this book so we got a lot of history building for her. She’s (now) a single mom who’s in England because she followed her college beau who knocked her up in the US and married him. NOT the love story she’d have written for herself. She also feels blindsided and completely out of control when the divorce rolls around, being strong armed by her mother in law.

Enter Gareth who has been the rock of the Harris family since his mom died at age 8 (which is was witness to her last breath, SOB 😭) and has had to be in control ever since.

See where this is going? Gareth gives over control to Sloane in the bedroom. Not traditional BDSM but placing your complete trust at their feet and saying ‘I’ll do whatever you ask’

This goes pretty swimmingly until those pesky ‘feelings’ get involved and they want to broach the relationship status question….but before they really can - they’re victims of a break in assault and we GO BLACK! Amy has us at the edge of our seat at the very end.

Audio performance on this were spectacular as they always as. Will Watt being a standout as Gareth as an adult but especially in the flashback scenes with his mom. Piper Goodeve is new to this series as American Sloane and Charolette Cole comes in as all British characters and most importantly Vi
