About this listen

When FBI agent Grayson Kincaid first encounters Olivia MacKenzie, she makes quite an impression. The beautiful, tough young attorney has stumbled into the middle of an FBI sting operation and reduced it to chaos. Months of surveillance and careful planning down the drain, Kincaid’s partner is furious and lets Olivia know that she’s ticked off the wrong guy. After all, he’s FBI.

But Olivia isn’t intimidated by his partner’s bullying because she’s something even scarier...she’s IRS.

And working for the IRS is no picnic. She’s on the trail of an elaborate Ponzi scheme, one that threatens to ruin the lives of naive and unsuspecting victims, and one she has personal reasons to be angry about. But after she asks the wrong people questions, her life is suddenly endangered. She’s accustomed to looking out for others who are weak, but being vulnerable herself makes her realize she needs help. In desperation, she calls Grayson Kincaid.

Together they join forces to fight corruption, but Olivia is also fighting the immediate and intense attraction she feels for Agent Kincaid, and that may be a battle she is bound to lose.

Critic reviews

"As always, Ms. Garwood creates engaging characters who come alive page after page. The banter and interaction between Ellie and Max is beyond charming. Ellie is a spirited and strong heroine, and Max is charming in a stoic, gruff sort of way." ( New York Journal of Books on The Ideal Man)
"Julie Garwood creates masterpieces every time she writes a book. Indeed, she is the Rembrandt of romance novels." ( The Kansas City Star)
"Julie Garwood has become a trusted brand name in romantic fiction." ( People)

Keep to the storyline

Is there anything you would change about this book?

What was most disappointing about Julie Garwood’s story?

Above

Would you be willing to try another one of Angela Dawe’s performances?

Dont think so....silly impression of male voices.

Poor Reader

I love Julie Garwood and always wait for the next book. Cute story. Sex but not to much.
Reader sounded like she made periods out of comas, it was annoying.

Alexa?

This story was ok. Pretty formulaic, which is ok. But the narrator made it hard to get through. It genuinely sounded like Alexa or Siri or some similar AI system was doing the reading. Not my favorite.

The narrative was awful.

The story seemed to be not Garwood’s best. Shame. She’s an amazing author. This would have been better if narrated by another. It was painful to listen to.

Loved this book!

Julie Garwood‘s novels about FBI agents are the best!! “Wired” is just as good as this one, and I’m planning to read all the others in the series.
These books have romance, humor, suspense,
action . . . what more can you ask for? Totally worth the credit!❤️😍👍🏻

Love the story but the narrator not so much

What did you love best about Sweet Talk: A Novel?

Classic Julie Garwood. I love her stories and writing style.

What didn’t you like about Angela Dawe’s performance?

I don't like the inflection at the end of every sentence. I almost gave up listening because it was very annoying. I kept listening because I had read the story and LOVED it.

Any additional comments?

If you haven't read the book and the narration discourages you from listening then buy the book and read it!

Story Yes Narrator No

The story is good but the narration is not successful. She makes the male characters that are supposed to be young and sexy sound like a 85 year old man with a smoking problem and all the women sound the same. She also sounds a little robotic.
