Dear Listener,

Why did I decide to tell this story now?
"It is hard for me to accept I have been a mom for two decades, but the laugh lines and worry creases tell no lies. After all this time, colic to college, diapers to dorms, I have learned much, and there is one thing I know with absolute certainty. We deserve better. So do our kids. It saddens me to bear witness to a family culture with an abundance of stress and a paucity of enjoyment. For parents and children, the struggle is real, and recent events have served to further damage and confuse our roles, our goals, and our motivation. It is critical we change our culture and build happier homes and happier families by taking back the power of the parent. The time is now. The parenting journey is a long one, and the baggage we carry, we carry by choice. Let’s put down the guilt, the obsession, the fear, and the doubt. We’ve been burdened by them for too long. By letting them go, we make room for confidence, joy, respect, and laughter, all of which are light as a feather. It is my hope, through this Audible Original, that I can help you discover the beauty and ease in your own unique parenting journey." –Dr. Karen Latimer, creator of Take Back the House

Great listen

I listened this with my wife and a glass/bottle/bottles of wine. It was great to hear perspective of an expert that relates to everyone’s real life experiences. Would highly recommend.

Helpful and Humorous; just what parents need!

Thank you for writing this! My husband found it first and then had me listen to it and I am so grateful I did. It both reinforces the parenting style we are already aspiring to, while also giving so many helpful reminders and tips. Thank you, Dr. Latimer, for supporting parents and helping us navigate this stress-inducing parenting culture.

Fun journey

I’ve read a few self-help parenting books, but this one felt different; it is more causal and flows well. The narrator (author) is charismatic and down to earth.

I enjoyed it and plan to incorporate a lot of in to my daily life.

easy to follow, sound advice

Listening to this while pregnant and feel it is slightly more geared to those who are already in the midst of parenting. I still took a lot away from it and really enjoyed the author/readers tone and inflection - nice and easy to follow.

Exactly what I needed.

I loved the Narrators voice, very calm and like listening to a wise friend. This book is exactly what I needed at this point in my parenthood journey. I loved the examples she used from her own life and she admits the struggles. I will definitely listen again when I feel like I need a pep talk from a good friend

Take away The guilt

I really enjoyed The atmosphere and easygoing into The housholds universal struggles of today’s parenting. I aim to have this calm and relaxed attitude to my own houshold.

It is a great reminder to enjoy The life we build as we go, and not stress to where we think others expect us to be. I will try to implement a lot of The advice because I think it is That Good! And it suits for any lifestyle you have.

Absolutly recommend.
