About this listen

A legendary enemy attacks....

Galactic peace is threatened....

Unless one man can find and stop the Atlantis ship.

Carson Mach, a former war hero turned freelancer, seeks the biggest payday of his life when he's tasked to hunt down a ghost ship that has echoed through the centuries. The legendary Atlantis ship has become a reality, appearing at the Commonwealth frontier and obliterating an orbital station.

Facing a lack of resources, a ragtag crew, and aliens who want him dead, Mach must use all his leadership skills and experience if he's to beat the overwhelming odds. His mission will take him across the galaxy and to uncharted dark areas of space.

Failure to stop the Atlantis ship will mean not only the death of Mach and his crew but the end of the Commonwealth and all of humanity. Somehow Mach must find a way to solve an ancient mystery if he's to succeed where everyone else before him has failed.

Critic reviews

"Great ship battles, daring prison escapes, orbital stations, and a legendary ghost-ship, this is what space operas are made of!" (J. P. Grant.)
"I really enjoyed Carson Mach and his off-beat crew. The Atlantis Ship combines the best of Star Trek, Firefly, and Battlestar. This is my new favorite space opera. I can't wait for the next one!" (Steve Riven)

great book

I was a little worried because the story is relatively short but there is great plot and character development. It is a pretty fast pace book but doesn't make crazy leaps leaving you bewildered. Overall I thought this was a great book.

Good Sci-Fi Drama, but a bit slow.

This book was a decent Sci-Fi Drama. When the big battle happens, it is over in a hurry. It is predictable at times. It takes a lot of time to set up the conflict.

What is the truth?

This story keeps the listeners riveted. A myth becomes real. A war might have been stopped. What will Mac do next? The person that did all the voices in this trilogy, is quite amazing. I tip my hat to you, indeed, in respect. It takes a good reader to make the stories even more exciting. Example is this book !!!! I'm on volume 2, and it is even more twists and turns !!!!!

Very Good Story, Looking Forward to the Next Book

This a decent story, although a little on the short side. It wasn't the best I've read, but definitely good enough to earn 4.5 stars.
The story centers around a former navy captain who was discharged for his recklessness and lack of respect for authority. Now a freelance captain, he occasionally takes on contracts from the navy to take care of problems that the navy doesn't want to get involved in directly. When a mysterious and extremely powerful ship attacks a local space station, he is bailed out of jail and hired to track it down. This particular ship has achieved myth status throughout known space, having been seen by both sides in the previous galactic war.
He manages to track down old friends that he has worked with in the past, including breaking some out of prison, and sets out to do what all believe to be an impossible task.
I thought that even though the story was good, that the characters could have been a little more believable (hence the 4.5 stars). I thought the author may have gone a little overboard when creating the main character as constantly reckless and outright crazy as he was in the story. Other than that, I really can't point out too much else that wasn't great.
It would appear that this series is written in more of a TV series style (with the books containing the same characters but with totally different plots) rather than a sequential story line, which is unfortunate because I really liked the concept of this book. But, this was definitely good enough that I will be buying the next in the series.

Predictable but enjoyable

The story is very predictable and the characters are thin. The performance was outstanding and made this an ok distraction.

Fun science fiction adventure

Is a fun story. While they say you can read them in any order, there is a chronological order.

Plot holes

Really good story, fun characters and interesting topics. But had some plot holes, felt rushed and predictable.

an okay book but nothing special

the thing I didn't like about the book was the title was the Atlanta ship however the book mostly covered the composition and creation of the team that was going after the Atlantis ship so it was more about the relationships with them and how they got along and what they did I just didn't find the book as appealing as I hoped. towards the end they actually did address the Atlanta ship little bit better but again it was too much and I didn't like the way that the story ended. and I wasn't too impressed with the way the author describe the characters in the book they weren't as memorable and they were so many different things going on throughout the book that it was a little bit cumbersome not completely difficult but I don't believe I will continue listening to the series.
