About this listen

"We know who you are! Can your current bank say that? We pride ourselves on providing unparalleled service to all of our customers. We're looking forward to banking with you!"

In the small town of Montgomery, Arizona, Kyle Decker's book shop is barely breaking even. When a bank opens in the empty storefront next door, he hopes the new establishment will bring in more foot traffic. Trouble is, nobody has ever heard of the First People's Bank, and the local branch has appeared mysteriously overnight.

Their incentives for new customers seem reasonable...at first. But is it a coincidence when Kyle's wife has her identity stolen and his son receives emails that seem to know his private thoughts? Or when the manager of a competing financial institution dies a gruesome death?

Soon, if people in Montgomery, Arizona, want to buy a new car or home or if they need a small business loan, they have no choice but to work with the First People's Bank. As the bank makes increasingly bizarre demands on its customers, it becomes clear the town may be in too deep...and the penalty for an early withdrawal is too terrifying to imagine.

With his latest original novel, Bentley Little's dark, razor-sharp satire takes on the worst practices of our banking industry, and you'll never look at your loan officer the same way again.

Like at BLs books, this is another great one. I’m so used to David Stifle as the narrator for his books, I was actually surprised to find this narrator much better with voices and helping with character development! Amazingly told!!

Great story

This was a really good ,old fashioned horror story.Along the lines of Stephen Kings 'Needful Things',we get a bank showing up in a town fully formed. At first it is a gift from the gods.Be careful what you wish for. John Pirhaila was a fine narrator.

The book was great until the end. Rushed ending and loose ends . The narrator was fabulous!

could have been better

Not his best work. Didn’t make much sense kind of hard to follow. Made it all the way through but kind of got boring

It’s ok

I really wanted to like this story. After listening to one other book, I find this particular story to be repetitive and not original. I’m not an author and I have no talent for story telling. I do not like to give a negative review to any author, however, this story is similar to other stories this author has given us. I appreciate the attempt at suspense and terror but I don’t think I’ll be listening to another one of his stories.

I was surprised at how many things seemed relevant to how many feel today about banks and lending practices.

Mind blowingly relevant.

Good premise, good storyline, a few too many sexual references, but still a well structured tale. However, I was quite disappointed with the ending. I have many questions. Perhaps they will be answered in another book, but that does not help me now with this all too abrupt ending.

Pretty sinister, poor ending

I love Bentley Little"s work. The Resort and The Store being my favorites.ve listened to quite a few and have 3 in my queue. The Bank is good but not what I have have come to expect. It felt like it was rushed for the publisher. The story is really underwhelming and what rubs the salt in the wounds is an annoying hiss. This is the first time I have experienced such poor audible quality From audible.

Besides The back ground hissing not bad.

“Sometimes sacrifices have to be made to the god of money”
Bentley Little nailed this one.
Kyle owns a bookstore next to the new bank in town. This new bank seems to know more about people and their business than it should.
People start acting strange, and murders are becoming a common occurrence in this small town. Things are out of control.
This is Needful Things with a bank instead of a retail store.
“Don’t worry, the banker grinned. People will send their thoughts and prayers and that always solves the problem”

We all need a helping hand occasionally

Little weaves a dark tale and a small town in Arizona. Evil lurks from all sides and the narration by John Pirhalla was great and I give him 5-Stars!

Another Good One
