About this listen

Darkness is descending on the small town of Rio Verde, Arizona. An evil older than time is rising from the desert, waiting for night to fall and a reign of terror to begin....

Brad Woods has performed a lot of autopsies, but never one like this. The body is purged of all blood.

Fear has made Sue Wing run from the darkened school and into night, a fear so powerful she can only name it using the Cantonese myths of her grandmother: Cup-hu-girngsi, the corspe who drinks blood.

Reporters like Rich Carter don't believe in the supernatural, but all the signs are pointing to the same conclusion: a vampire is stalking the streets of Rio Verde.

No, Rich Carter doesn't believe in such things. Not yet. But he will come to believe with a faith borne of horror after horror....

Wasn’t actually feeling a vampire book but I knew Little never writes an ordinary trope. I really liked this one. Great pacing is probably the most enjoyable quality of little’s stories.

Well crafted

Not one of my favorite Bentley Little books that’s for sure. Out of all the books that I’ve read of his so far this was my least favorite. There were just parts in this one that just really grossed me out.

It’s okay

Pretty creepy. Interesting characters. The only part I hated was the hurting of the children. Yes, it made me hate the creature even more which I guess was the point but it sickened me. On the whole, it was good, suspenseful and scary.

Not a bad novel...just slow, slow, slow! Bentley Little is the poor man's Stephen King. Salem's Lott makes this dragging Vampire story look a grade school attempt.

I get tired of the same storyline from authors. There is always a Christian pastor/priest/etc. who winds up being the source of evil with his clichéd bad upbringing, fear of sex, obsession with damnation. This book is another one of those. It would be refreshing to read from an author that doesn’t rely on the same tropes.

Full of Clichés

Dark and twisted- I am a huge fan of horror and Bentley Little. But I almost could not finish this book. It was so disturbing I feel like I need to wash my brain. I think that speaks to his gift as an author but brace yourself, this one is not for the weak of heart.

Not the vampires you know

This is the second Bentley Little book I’ve listened to. The other being The Store. Both stories had a great plot. Being a King fan, I wish there was more character development. I’m hoping Little grows as a writer in that sense because he’s got some great ideas. I would recommend this novel.

Pretty good listen

it's okay, has some suspenseful parts and the narration is top-notch. the problem I have with the book is the characters, everything they do is wrong and and basically goes against human nature, they're so dumb you almost want them to die, and many of the characters they actually do kill you don't want to die... aside from that entertaining

it's not Salem's Lot

This was written 25ish years ago but seems contemporary with the cultist/mindless followers and their hate for Chinese people. People would say that this was written about the previous megalomaniac president if it were written today. It's a fantastic book and I loved the narrator.

The best Bentley novel
