About this listen

In Beverly Hills, a wealthy CEO goes on a bloody rampage and videotapes the slaughter. He leaves behind a chilling cryptic message: “This is where it begins.”

Miles away, an alarmed mother receives an unsettling letter from her estranged husband, stained with bloody fingerprints.

And all across California, children are becoming affected by a monstrous change - and their parents by a mounting fear.

Social worker Carrie Daniels and reporter Brian Howells are determined to find the link between these baffling crimes. But they shouldn’t look too deeply into the lives of the victims. It’s quite dark there. And God help them, they won’t like what they find.

A Big No..

I normally love his books. This book was not one of them. It was weird if it referred to a man's member once it was 30 times. Just not a good book from him. To sexulized and it wasn't needed. It jumped around to much. It wasn't east to follow at all. Skip this one.

Not happy with ending

I thoroughly enjoyed the book but the ending was disappointing. I had several laugh out loud moments and moment when I blushed but really like it. I was anticipating how everything was going to tie in together, only to have the problem solved so quickly that I had to replay the last few chapters to see what happened. Not mad that I purchase it as I can only imagine how hard it is to not only come up with a story, but to keep the reader interested. Love this author!!

Just meh

I usually love Bentley Little’s work, but this one wasn’t his best and the reader was just annoying. Almost every sentence he read was ended in a question. Ugh.

Okay

from the description I was really looking forward to this book, the story was kind of a letdown. Hyper-sexualized, which is fine but it didn't really seem to fit the rest of the story. It didn't work for me, but it may work for other people.

Bye Bye Bentley

This book was just gross. Mainly because one of the points of the book was people having sex with monsters in graphic detail. He even described their private parts in the state of arousal. The story was weak to a fault. I could have cared less about any of the characters. Do your self a favor and skip this disgusting story. Funny, I have read over a dozen of his books but like they say your only as good as your last book. I am not a prude at all, I just draw the line on stupidity.

Anticlimactic ending

I was excited to see a new Bentley Little book, however; after listening I am pretty disappointed. The biggest letdown was the ending. The whole story built up to an ending where everything appeared to be resolved in less than five minutes. Much more could have been done to make it more exciting. Also, his stories are getting to be too predictable. Initially his stories containing weird sex stuff didn't bother me that much because the stories themselves were so interesting. Now I realize that every book I have read by him has a supernatural entity or beings that turn everyone around them into sex fiends engaging in taboo acts. Why does that always have to happen?

Great story of sex and violence

The narrator is brilliant and the story and characters are well done. This book IS very full of sex and violence so if you're squeamish or if "sexy" monsters are a hard NO then don't bother. Otherwise enjoy an interesting horror that spans 100 years of history, lust and violence.

A Little disappointed

I have listened to many of Bentley Little's books, but this one is a little too strange for me, the plot was okay the narrator was good. I don't know what Bentley was on but to me this book was a little far-fetched.

Review of The Vanishing

The storyline was a bit disjointed and that made it hard for me to maintain my focus. Overall the plot seemed plausible despite the subject matter, and, for the most part, I enjoyed it.
