Highly recommend this book to everyone
If you're struggling with self sacrifice, wrapping your head around the novel concept of boundaries, have trouble sticking up for yourself and/or saying no; then I highly recommend you read or listen to this book. The author speaks from the heart as she shares personal and highly relatable stories tackling these monumental life changing concepts in simple easy to understand terms. Very enjoyable listening to such an important message: Choose your own life, starting right now. You are worth it.

Terrible narration gets in the way of the content. Almost unlistenable.
The author really, really should have hired a professional narrator.
First of all it sounds like this was recorded on a phone or laptop in a room with no sound treatment. In addition, the author has a strong regional accent, which I’m sorry, but an accent like that can get between the work and the audience. There are lots of non-standard pronunciations of words. And her cadence is that of someone reading from a page without practice. You can hear her pause and flip a page sometimes. This is just not a professional reading.
Trying to look past the presentation, the content is ok. Kind of a mixed bag for me. The first few chapters are pretty squishy, metaphorical, almost metaphysical stuff. The last few chapters are stronger, so I’m glad I stuck it out. Though with narration this bad it wasn’t easy. And those chapters could be reasonably summarized as, “ask for what you want and don’t apologize for it.”
I almost feel mean criticizing a book about someone learning to love themself but hey, I have to review honestly.
