Publisher's summary

They say love and construction don't mix. By that logic, hate and construction may as well be condemned.

LaRynn Lavigne and Deacon Leeds had one short and contentious summer fling when they were teens. Certainly nothing to build a foundation on.

But a decade later, when their grandmothers have left them with shared ownership of their dilapidated Santa Cruz building, they're thrust back together and have to figure out how to brace up the pieces.

LaRynn has the money, but to access her trust, she has to be married.

Deacon has the construction expertise, but lacks the funds.

A deal is struck: Marry for however long it takes to fix up the property, collect a profit, and cut ties.

Thrust into a home without walls, they quickly learn that it's easy to hide behind emotional ones, even in a marriage. But, with all the exposure and pitfalls that come with living with the opposite sex (and none of the perks) they'll also have to learn what it means to truly cooperate as a team.

A cute summer lead!

This ended up being a pretty cute book. I really don’t think that Santa Cruz or, really any California town really, truly has that, “small town” vibe besides Philo or Boonville but I guess I’ve never spent a long time there.
LaRynn and Deacon get pretty Randi; they have a lot of passion to work out but they are a good couple in the end.
A very cute summer read!
The male narrator is Nelson Hobbs and when he first started speaking as Deacon, I thought he was Tim Page but as I kept listening I knew it was not Tim but I still think that they sound an awful lot alike.

Wish the male narrator didn’t try for the accent

But otherwise it was a cute rom-com. So far, I like that these first two books don’t have the gut-punch third act. Very light, escapism beach reads.

Sucker for enemies to lovers

I am a sucker for these tropes! Enemies/Friends to lovers, sign me up!

I was able to listen to this whole book in a car ride across a few states and it kept me captivated from the start! I loved being able to be with them as they navigated a renovation while also navigating their life together! This heartfelt story dug deep in making me fall in love with them and their neighbors!

Obsessed with this book

This is one of my favorite books, so I was so excited to see it on audio. The narrators do a wonderful job of bringing Deacon and LaRynn to life.

The Co-Op is a marriage of convenience romance following Deacon and LaRynn as they build their relationship from the ground up. There are so many tender and vulnerable moments before intimacy and I love the relationship they’ve created.

The last few chapters always make me teary eyed. And the epilogue is the sweetest!

I highly recommend picking this one up!

I absolutely loved this one!

Very cute and so sweet. I would absolutely recommend this one. Both narrators did a really good job and the editing was great!

wish the male narrator skipped the accent

it's a fun story, kept me entertained and I wanted to finish. I wish the male narrator skipped the attempt at an east coast accent because it was just awful and very inconsistent.

Bad Narration Ruins A Great Story

This was one of my favorite reads of 2022. I LOVE Tarah DeWitt. Despite my reservations after listening to the sample, I couldn’t resist the desire to experience this wonderful, charming, steamy story. The download was a mistake. The narrators are terrible. The male narrator’s New England accent sounded like a speech impediment. The female narrator sounds like an AI voice generator. The narration felt robotic and detached, which prevented me from fully engaging with the characters I loved on the page. It kinda breaks my heart.
So….please READ the book, but skip the listen.

I tried so hard to get through it

Completely insufferable. Narration is awful, story is lame, narration is painful to listen to.
Did I mention the narration is BAD.

DNF don’t be like me- save your money
