One of the best in the series

I am a big fan and Daniel Silva and his protagonist, Gabriel Allon. This story definitely stands out from the rest - its very current and Silvia’s depiction of modern Russia and its current regime is absolutely amazing. It’s feels so real, like I am there. It is hard to put this one down.

Could not put it down

Good story. Good narration. It could happen. For the sake of my children, I hope not.

Excellent on all fronts

Another great story and this one has a contemporary setting that is extra powerful. Gabriel Allon is always my favorite spy. Narrator is topa.

Another outstanding story by Daniel Silva

Starts slowly with the theft of a priceless painting but gathers momentum with international intrigue and the Russian/Ukrainian war at center stage.

Always intriguing

One of the things I love most about Daniel Silva's Gabriel Allon series is that the plot always plays off of current events. This one begins with a search for a stolen masterpiece and evolves into a plot by the Russians to launch a nuclear attack in Ukraine. While Silva always claims that the plot is entirely fictional, you have to wonder, given the reality of Putin's threats. In any case, I always wait eagerly for the next book. Long live Gabriel Allon!

Gabriel Allon doesn’t disappoint

If you listened to a book that disappointed, listen to this one next. You can’t go wrong with a Gabriel Allon story and this one will not disappoint.

Silva delivers, again.

Daniel Silva remains one of my all time favorite writers. His books are amazing. There are very few books I will read more than once, but Silva's are one exception.
Now as to the narrator, I would be hard pressed to name a better narrator than Ballerini. Performances are nuanced and the vocal range astonishing. There are many quality narrators out there, but Edoardo is right at the top.
I rarely give 5 stars across the board, but this combination of author and narrator whole heartedly deserves it.

Another Disappointing Novel

Up until these last two novels, Daniel Silva was one of my absolute favorite novelists. His preoccupation with progressive ideas and grandstanding regarding leftist policies and positions are out of place and unnecessary. Why can’t we just enjoy the former Gabriel Allon? Why do we need a leftist who has all of this progressivism attached to him and his daughter? I can’t tell you how disappointed these last two novels have been. I wish that he would leave all that garbage out and just write a good spy novel like he used to. He is all woke and it’s sad.
