About this listen

Go to the big city. Hang out with the bigwigs. Have fun.

That was the plan, right? Right! Except, our hero was supposed to be the guest of honor and the mob was not supposed to be invited.

Daniel was running out of places to lay low, however. Something needed to be done, or he’d be caught in the ever-tightening net of his pursuers.

Good thing the capital was right there, beckoning with a promising and permanent solution to his predicaments. Now, things would start looking up. The place surely wasn’t called the Cradle of Hope for nothing.

Soundbooth Theater is such a joy! Go grab it!

It is such a joy to listen to a Soundbooth Theater Production, especially when it melds so smoothly together with the book that they're doing. And, World of Chains by Lars Machműller is perfect as he sets the perfect pitch. It's almost like it was written just them 🤔 I wonder.
Although, at times I found that Lars story was so complex, I actually lost the thread of the story ARC, confused about who was double dealing this, and backstabbing that. But our intrepid heroes came out on top so it turned out OK. Atlas our beast chameleon was amazing as ever and he cleanes up well. 😆 He even helped cheat at a game of cards. Wanna know how? Grab the audiobook because you won't want to miss a single note played...

Here's a couple of quotes that I found amusing. And who else, other than Lars could add burgeoning and schadenfreude in the same sentence?

"...my thoughts were chaotic milling about, they kept returning with one recurring detail how the capital of this city despite all seemed to be living up to it's name, because as I walked, the one emotion burgeoning within me was Hope, and schadenfreude."

"Afterwards it had been like dropping a cart full of mentos into a swimming pool of soda, the explosion was immediate and completely out of control."

So Soundbooth Theater Productions 5⭐'s
And Lars Machműller 3½⭐'s

The bard series just gets better & better every book. The world of Ion heats up in this installment. Highly recommend this series for LitRPG fans.

piano

First off, I received a code to be an honest review for this book.

number 4 of this series doesn't let you down. each one feels like it had so much happen while not being as fast progression as others in its style.

what I mean is the beloved main character and side characters have growth in many different aspects further than just stats and levels which there are no doubt of.

we don't get spammed with too much information while reading or listening. while still feeling like major acts and accomplishments happen. it's almost like the bards' perspective of an elaborate dnd campaign.

the work of art and beautiful instrument usage sound booth manages to throw into this book is inspiring as well 10/10 in my books.

Another RPG book

The Court Bard is a fine addition to this series. I enjoy video game literature. This one, like many, is Isekai flavor. Very standard character archetypes with standard races and classes in the Tolkien approach to fantasy. Those things are standard for a reason though and if that's what you're looking for this is the book for you.

The narration for this book is top notch. Soundbooth Theater has never let me down. These narrators bring books to life in a fantastic way that elevates the experience significantly. With this book in particular they've gone a step further and added actual violin segments to enhance the bard's playing in a way that truly makes this the best way to experience these books.

This is not the first book in this series. I occasionally like to begin some series in the middle and some series don't really matter where you begin, but I recommend beginning this series from book one. A lot of the key moments of this book pay off character interactions that will only really be meaningful to those who come in from the beginning. So if you're new to this series I recommend picking up the early books first.

Yes!

I really loved this addition to the series! It's still got all the elements from the first 3 books. The story's very well-written, witty, exciting, and funny. I enjoyed it from start to end. I can't wait what's going to happen next.

Again, the narration and production were just simply amazing!
