Publisher's summary

For years Elisabeth Hasselbeck couldn't pinpoint what was making her sick. She consulted doctors and nutritionists, but no one seemed to have any answers. It wasn't until she was close to starving in the Australian Outback, living off the land as a contestant on Survivor, that, ironically, her symptoms vanished. Returning home, she identified the food ingredient that made her ill---gluten, the binding element in barley, oats, wheat, and rye. By simply eliminating it from her diet, she was able to enjoy a completely normal, healthy life. Hasselbeck also discovered the myriad benefits that anyone can enjoy from a gluten-free diet, from increased energy to improved attention span and quicker digestion. In this all-inclusive book, Hasselbeck arms you with the tools you need to start living a gluten-free life---from defining gluten and targeting gluten-free food and beauty products to creating G-free shopping lists, sharing recipes, and managing G-free living with family and friends, whether at home or away. Whatever your motivation for going G-free---whether you suffer from celiac disease, as Elisabeth does, or want to maintain a healthy lifestyle---The G-Free Diet is the key to reaching your goal!

G Freedom!

What did you love best about The G-Free Diet?

This book makes living Gluten Free doable. A lot of the mystery is explained with helpful resources, recommendations and tips. I couldn't have transitioned as smoothly as I did to a G-Free diet without this book and the companion cookbook. I tried many of the recipes and my family and friends couldn't tell the difference. KUDOS, to Elizabeth Hasselbeck and her team of experts!

Sincerely,

P. B.

What other book might you compare The G-Free Diet to and why?

Actually, I've read G-Free for Dummies, The G-Free Answer Guide and a couple of other titles. I like this book the most because of it's simplicity, helpful tips and resources and the cookbook by the same author.

Wish I got the BOOK and not the Audiobook

Would you try another book from Elisabeth Hasselbeck and/or Cassandra Campbell?

It was an OK book. It does a lot to make me (as a new to celiac issues sufferer) feel less alone in this struggle, but I really want access to the long recipes she lists, and those cards for traveling outside the U.S. I feel very ripped-off by not received those items. I asked customer service for those items and they said the author did not include those in the audio book.

Can I please get those travel cards? That would be a life saver!

eye-opener

I have dealt with gluten intolerance for about five years and fell off the wagon about a year ago I knew I was having problems and I Purchased this book.by chapter 5 I was almost in tears and thinking oh my word she’s talking about me. I went home called three people as a support group to pray for me and another girlfriend to come help me clean out my cupboards. I have been back GF for two weeks now I am feeling so much better. I learned so much from this book. I would highly recommend it to anyone with Gluten questions.

The only portion I found cumbersome was the reading of reference materials and websites.

I fully intend to listen to the book again this time with pen and paper in hand as my first time through was while driving car

Recipes don't work well in audio

The reader does a great job with less-than-great material. The narrative sections were quite all right but just reading lists and recipes out loud does not make for engaging listening. Recipes are best delivered in print format, in my opinion.

Print out of recipes

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I did enjoy listening to this book. As a self diagnosed Celiac myself I could relate to much of what the author is saying. The narrator did a terrific job.I am looking for a printout of the recipes. Audible, you usually provide a print out to go with this kind of book. It is very difficult to get them from the audio.
