About this listen

Some lines should never be crossed.

Police corruption, an investigation that ends in tragedy and the mystery of a little girl’s silence – three unconnected events that will prove to be linked by one small town.

While detective Cormac Reilly faces enemies at work and trouble in his personal life, garda Peter Fisher is relocated out of Galway with the threat of prosecution hanging over his head. But even that is not as terrible as having to work for his overbearing father, the local copper for the pretty seaside town of Roundstone.

For some, like Anna and her young daughter, Tilly, Roundstone is a refuge from trauma. But even this village on the edge of the sea isn’t far enough to escape from the shadows of evil men.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two in this series and one always wonders if someone will keep getting better or...maybe have already reached their peak. Aoife McMahon is clearly continuing toward higher and higher peaks of talent and storytelling. FABULOUS story and the narrator is perfect. PERFECT.

Nothing could have been better in this book

I thought the story was great. I loved the locations and the character development. The problem for me was the narration. She did an amazing job but the range of different voices that she had to speak all sounded the same. It was mostly the male characters but they all sounded the same. Other than that it was a great story.

Really good story but needed something...

I always enjoy the Reilly stories. Despite suspicions about some characters early in the story, plots don’t wrap up until near the end. Garda Peter Fisher also has a key role in police activities and pursuing the corrupt.

Another good story Coronavirus Reilly

This is the fourth I’ve listened to by this author1 LOVE her writing & following the characters in the series. The sound quality of this recording is not nearly as good. I almost stopped listening in the beginning because of it- but the story was excellent & I soon forgot about it.

Recording quality not as good

Dervla McTiernan has slowly become on of my favorite crime writers. There's nothing better than listening to one of her books while hiking through the woods (at least during COVID). If you like Connelly's Harry Bosch series then you will like the Cormac Riley series.

Consistent!
