Publisher's summary

Graham Russell and I weren't made for one another.

I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.

Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other's secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.

Graham Russell wasn't a man who knew how to love, and I wasn't a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I'd fall with him forever.

Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

I am in awe

BRITTAINY IS SOOOOOOO AWESOME ...I wish I could write as good. This relationship is so not right, but oh so perfect. Conflict could never be so good.

Hands down one of my favorites a constant reread

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. The story is just superb. It's simply heart breaking in the best way. You root for these characters not only as a couple but for them as individual characters. The difficulties they face as the story progresses will make the ending even more poignant.

What did you like best about this story?

It's the moment when the falling can no longer be denied. With one character who feels everything and one who fights to keep their heart closed, it makes the moment so bittersweet where you as a reader simply fall right along with them.

Have you listened to any of Erin Mallon and Brian Pallino ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but they have become a favorite where I seek out their other narrations.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes. There are more tearful moments just because of the overall story line. But there are moments that make you smile and lift your heart, so that the overall feel is depressing.

Any additional comments?

I can't express how much I love this book. I purchased the Kindle version as well as I'm a faster reader than the narration moves. I've reread this so many times I've lost count, it's that good.

The story pulls you in!

Beautiful story with very rich characters! I loved this book and loved the depth of characters portrayed. Yoiu were able to experience the story vs just hearing it and this was skillfully written and read to achieve this effect! Everyone needs a Lucy in their life and Graham is a character who will stay with you.

I enjoyed everything about this book. I would recommend if you're not looking for a book that plays with your emotions. This was a simple but lovely story.

My fave in the Elements series

5 stars — Oh you guys. This one just got to my heart, and I loved it!! It’s been awhile since I read The Silent Waters, but I’m pretty sure this is my favourite Elements series read.

I listened to this one on audiobook again, and I pretty much had the same feelings about the narrators as in The Air He Breathes. I enjoyed them, I liked their different voices for different characters, but they don’t necessarily make my faves list. I actually think I liked Ms. Mallon’s Graham voice better than Mr. Pallino’s. Again, that’s TOTALLY personal taste stuff, nothing to do with the quality of the narration.

As with The Air He Breathes, I totally predicted quite a few of the twists…at the beginning and at the end. But that didn’t bring down my enjoyment whatsoever, it’s just hard waiting for that shoe to drop, you know? Luckily the beginning twist happened fairly quickly…I was worried about that.

As always, I was concerned at the beginning, because Graham truly was as cold as the blurb suggests…cold to the point of rudeness, and maybe just a smidge of cruelty. I found I was able to adjust to that quality in him since we got glimpses of how he got that way right from the start…and more and more as the book went on. So while on another character that might have turned me off, I was still able to leave room in my heart for him… And boy, was he quick to fill up that space. Watching him thaw—watching him let down his walls—was almost a privilege, you know? I was just rooting for him so hard. My heart hurt for the little boy he was and the man he became. I loved that it wasn’t a quick transformation, but that both Talon (no idea the spelling b/c audiobook) and Lucy wiggled their way inside and showed his heart how to beat. *sigh*

Lucy was…like a breath of fresh air. Her heart just came across so pure. I loved the way she loved her loved ones…how she went all in, caution to the wind. She really was a hippie weirdo, but in all the best ways. She was sweet, stubborn, sassy, and…well, Graham nailed it: PURE. I will admit I was a bit concerned with her fierce stance against certain things with her sister Mari (spelling?). It wasn’t that I didn’t understand her underlying feelings and agree with them. But I was concerned b/c she wasn’t trying to understand how Mari got to that place. But I was okay with how that all worked out. I also really appreciated how her relationship with Lyric worked out as well…I liked that it wasn’t a happy ending necessarily, but that there was some closure.

As for the Graham and Lucy together? I felt their connection right away…but not in the love sense…just that they recognized something in each other. I was HELLA concerned about a cheating aspect to this story, b/c that’s a button issue for me, but that worked out in a way I was satisfied with. I really loved that we got to watch their relationship grow from begrudging to friendship to more. I felt all of those steps.

And can I just say that Graham Cracker might be the single best nickname ever? I loved it every time Lucy used it.

I LOVED Ollie, Mary, Carla and Suzy. I loved what Ollie brought to the story, and what he brought to Graham particularly. He was a very impactful secondary character.

So yeah. This one was a success. These books have a different feel from the usual contemps I read…a bit more serious I guess. Not without their lightness, just lots of feelz. I’ll definitely be looking to finish the series with Fire sometime later this year.

Very good end to the series

Great way to end the series. I really enjoyed this. The heartbreak of feeling everyone will always leaves just rips at my heart because it seems to be such a common thing these days.

Harden Heart Meets; Foot Loose and Fancy Soul!

I loved this story! I loved how Brittainy Cherry captures how opposites that attract can truly compliment the true beauty of love in a relationship. I can also understand how some may find the lead male character very distasteful and, disrespectful at first. However, the writer shows how real life can darken a soul then build it up all over again. Brilliant! Narration excellent! If you like stories of “troubled past” you’ll love this one. 5 Stars!

Hold up just a cotton pickin’ minute...

I think we have some loose ends to deal with here...how coincidental Parker and Lyric show back up around the same time and both working Mari over in their own way? Seems fishy. Also, what happened to Lyric strong arming the flower shop? Did Lucy ever return to her rightful place as shop owner? While I love this author, I kept waiting for Parker and Lyric to be up to something illegal...and then they would get caught and either go to jail or get lost. Those two got off way to easy in the rushed ending. Great great story, but Brittainy...slow down and make sure you give us all the deets. ❤️
