About this listen

An antidote to heavy-handed advice books written by parenting "experts" who have gotten too big for size 2T britches, The Honest Toddler provides an indispensable manual to parenting that places the toddler's happiness front and center.

Outrageously confident and sweetly indignant, The Honest Toddler tackles everything from preferred toddler foods (unbroken crackers and undiluted juice), unconditional love (accept them as they are-pants or no pants), sleep and potty training methods (none), play date etiquette (mi casa es not su casa), and the proper response to random aggression at the playground (embrace it, park justice is messy but swift).

The result is a parenting book like no other, one that will leave moms and dads laughing, and maybe crying, as they recognize their own child in the ongoing shenanigans of one bravely honest toddler.

Annoying!

What would have made The Honest Toddler better?

Having a less annoying voice narrate the book. Actually, I'm not sure if it's the tone of the voice or the actual text that's annoying. It sounds like a grown man baby-talking the whole time. I couldn't get through 23 minutes of it.

What could Bunmi Laditan have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I understand what the Author was going for - a book from the Toddler's point of view - but it actually sounds like a toddler is talking to you. What I was hoping for was the point of view in a more matter-of-fact tone. It also has a lot of sarcasm (or at least I hope they weren't serious), which I did not find to be helpful.

How could the performance have been better?

I think the Narrator did all he could with what he was given. He did try to be as funny & charismatic as he could.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Sorry. I couldn't really get past the annoying tone and sarcasm to remember anything worthwhile.

Any additional comments?

I would like a refund. If this was a physical book, I would have returned it.

This keeps me laughing and gives me some perspective on my twins! I need a reminder of their logic

Honestly FUNNY and insightful

Would you listen to The Honest Toddler again? Why?

I kept The Honest Toddler in heavy rotation for months. It took me a minute to get the satire but once I did, I loved it. I have recommended it to all my friends with toddlers. Brilliant approach to parenting a toddler.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The narrator was great! I often joke that Stewie Griffith from Family Guy is the Honest Toddler.

What did you learn from The Honest Toddler that you would use in your daily life?

The number one thing I took from the book was to just relax. And to enjoy those very trying times and frustrating times because they will be hilarious treasured memories down the road.

Repetitive

This book was super repetitive and not helpful at all... and not as funny as it thinks it is.

This is CRAP

This makes toddlers seem like complete idiots, which they are NOT! I have raised 5 toddlers and none of them acted like this...EVER!!! I would definitely like a refund as this book was not helpful in the least!
