About this listen

Eighteen years of summers spent in a beach house in Ogunquit, Maine, have brought Violet Mitchell and Will Seaberg together.

For two perfect, beach-filled months every year, they spent every waking minute together. First as friends, until one summer changed everything.

But before the two even had a chance to claim the love they’d spent their entire lives creating, disaster struck, tearing the two lovers—and their families—apart.

Heartbroken and haunted by the memories of that fateful summer, Violet struggles to move on from the past. Still, she promises herself to never contact Will again. But five years later, when Violet arrives to finalize the sale of the property, she finds Will right where she left him: sun-kissed, loving, and so incredibly sorry.

At first, she wants nothing to do with him, but Violet soon realizes that it’s inevitable and that the past she was running away from might actually hold the key to the love and the happiness she believed was stolen away from her five summers ago.

I love N.S Perkins' books. This was a re-read for me and I think I loved it even more the second time. Will & Violet's story is just so good. I enjoyed the narrator as well!

The story was sweet. It took me a little bit to get into it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The ending was perfect.

A second chance romance

Was it predictable? Yes. Very. I still very much enjoyed it. I could have done without the plunger scene. I loathe second hand embarrassment and it made me cringe so hard. I’m also such a nosey B that I needed her to power up the phone and get all the answers. Cause now I’m left wondering and I don’t like that. Wills letters were cute. Wish we got his POV through the whole thing as well.

So much cringing with the plot and dialogue, main character and her narrator are really unlikable… honestly couldn’t find very many redeeming things about this one. I regret this purchase, learn from my mistakes.

Total letdown

This was dumb. Entirely predictable. Suspense around a huge event that seemed thrown together to justify ridiculous behavior and stupid life choices. Do not recommemd.

So bad.
