About this listen

To the Green-Eyed Lovebird:

We met 15 years ago, almost to the day, when I moved my stuff into the NYU dorm room next to yours at Senior House.

You called us fast friends. I like to think it was more.

We lived on nothing but the excitement of finding ourselves through music (you were obsessed with Jeff Buckley), photography (I couldn’t stop taking pictures of you), hanging out in Washington Square Park, and all the weird things we did to make money. I learned more about myself that year than any other.

Yet, somehow, it all fell apart. We lost touch the summer after graduation when I went to South America to work for National Geographic. When I came back, you were gone. A part of me still wonders if I pushed you too hard after the wedding....

A sappy romance novel….and I LOVED it!!

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. I loved the story even though it was a little too saccharine but I didn’t care. I loved the characters and cared about what happened to them. The narration was excellent. Nothing deep just a story of love, loss, sadness and reconciliation. Light and enjoyable listening!

Heartbreakingly beautiful

This story is perfect. There is just enough tension in the story without it seeming too dramatic and overdone. A beautiful story of life pulling and pushing you in different directions.
Worth the read.

Voices

The story was so adorable, and I really enjoyed it! However, I didn’t quite get the vibe from the male character’s voice. It didn’t really match his personality at all. But once the female narrator started reading for him, I could totally tell he was supposed to be handsome and not super nerdy or hideous.

Love story

Sweet love story, this isn’t what I normally listen to but worth it. I can see the betrayal at the end but didn’t see it coming the way it did.

So beautiful

Thus love story i felt there connection! This is the first time I read anything by this author and I just felt in love with her writing on how she wrote on each character. I love the chemistry between them and how she described love.

Before We Were Strangers

Before We Were Strangers... I'm a little torn on this one, and I debated between a 3 and a 4 star. The first half of the book I found slightly boring maybe it was because they were young. It ended better than it began, but I still found it just okay. I did laugh once, and that's when Ash said okay I will call you George. The narrators were okay as well. I did like Ash and her no-nonsense self.

Great storytelling.. worth the credit

I really enjoyed this. The storytelling of the first 2/3 was awesome. It took a bit to find its footing in the last 1/3 because the pace felt totally different, but it still ended strong. The twist was good and presented well, but there were definitely strong hints at it in the part of the story taking place in the past.. so it was more of an excited “I knew it!” for me than complete shock. The segments in the past were enthralling! I was so sad for Grace at the end of the past segment, but because technology wasn’t the same in that time period, it was an easy set up for the miscommunication trope. I commend the author for making the reader mourn the lost time between this couple along with them. And also reminding of the magic in finding your person, or in this case, finding your way back to them.

But because I can be a little spiteful, I really wish Elisabeth got at least some sort of public shaming for being such a terrible person. She never physically re-entered the story after the twist and what lead to a lot of the miscommunication were revealed.

I loved the narration, but there were times it was a little difficult to differentiate the voices of the male narrator and i would rewind to figure it out. Otherwise, great performance.
