About this listen

In 1943, Private Clay Paxton trains hard with the US Army Rangers at Camp Forrest, Tennessee, determined to do his best in the upcoming Allied invasion of France. With his future stolen by his brothers' betrayal, Clay has only one thing to live for - fulfilling the recurring dream of his death.

Leah Jones works as a librarian at Camp Forrest, longing to rise above her orphanage upbringing and belong to the community, even as she uses her spare time to search for her real family - the baby sisters she was separated from so long ago.

After Clay saves Leah's life from a brutal attack, he saves her virtue with a marriage of convenience. When he ships out to train in England for D-day, their letters bind them together over the distance. But can a love strong enough to overcome death grow between them before Clay's recurring dream comes true?

Wonderful series!!!

Loved the three books together! Each one complimented the others. Beautiful stories of God’s grace and forgiveness.

Wonderful!!

The only regret I have is reading this book before realizing it was the 3rd book in a series. I loved this story so much I can hardly wait to read the first two. A wonderful love story with traditional heartwarming family values.

Loved ever second!

Couldn't stop listening! Excellent story about Clay and Leah, and a great wrap up to the series. Sarah Sundin's talent for details is amazing.

Well written WW2 story with a message of hope

What a great author and narrator! I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the details of life for families in WW2. The main characters are "human" but are so steadfast in their faith I found it personally encouraging. the romance was clean and wholesome and met a standard that most Christian romance novels often miss.

The whole thing.

Excellent Read. Loved out. I also love how the author will write the story of each family member of three. How their stories unfold is fascinating.

An Army Ranger and a Naive Orphan Find Their Path to Joy under the rigors of WWii

I enjoyed The Land Beneath Us very much. It held a refreshing tale of two entirely different people and how they were thrown into adulthood by circumstances beyond their control. Lea, a orphan twice, and a young Texas youth going through Ranger training. It was hard to put the book down.

Wonderful story!

I thoroughly enjoyed all three of Sarah Sundin’s books about the Paxton brother. What an amazing fictional journey through life in the historical World War II setting. Beautifully told!

Best one of the series!

I liked all 3 but IMO this one was a great grand finale! I did miss the narrator's British accent and her Texas accent and her Mexican was not spot on. But it did not by any means taint the interesting story line. This author uses really authentic descriptive lines at times. Her writing is superb!
