Publisher's summary

Physicist Portia Harding's life is grounded in facts. There's nothing that can't be explained by logic and science. Until she travels with her best friend to England - and accidentally summons an ethereal Virtue who bequeaths her gift of weather control to Portia....

Now Portia's walking around with a literal cloud over her head - and a heart - stopping handsome maniac trying to kidnap her. But Theondre North is no run-of-the-mill maniac. He's a nephilim - the son of a fallen angel - who needs Portia's help to change his fate.

Problem is, Portia's down-to-earth attitude frustrates beings from both heavenly and hellish realms - and gets Theo turned into a vampire. But at least he has Portia to satisfy his newfound hungers - and possibly save his soul.

It was interesting enough to have kept listening

Took a bit to get into it, as there were many moments that got on my nerves. The narrator's cadence reminded me of that of William Shatner.

Fantasy with Laughs

Where does The Last of the Red-Hot Vampires rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I needed humor and this book came through. I am not a true paranormal or fantasy fan, but this one was creative and had lots of simple uncomplicated laughs.

Who was your favorite character and why?

our heroine of course...true friend

What does Karen White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love her reading voice of males and she gets what the authors want for a reading pace/story line. Try her Julie James series...catch her "hey"

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

this one had a different spin on a love story...as it had humor, mystery, and hot sex too

Any additional comments?

I purchased this author due to Karen White. I do not think I want to try this author with the other readers unless reviews are great.

Literally nauseated with annoyance over this character.

I’m only 2 hours in and I hope that it gets better. I felt compelled to write a review, which I hardly do. The beginning of this book is tapping on my last nerve. The only reason I will continue is because I loved the other books in this series. I need this torment to end and soon!

The Last of my Common Sense

This story was a bit hard to follow,a lot of different characters,a lot going on and a lot of back and forth.I think if I caught onto it better,I would probably have given the story more than 3 stars.I may need to listen again in the future.Other wise, the narration was great, the characters fun and colorful and there was plenty of romance and action to keep you entertained.Just got to pay attention it’s easy to miss something.

Love the science aspect of the story…

So….I may be a bit bias…as a fellow scientist, but I loved this book and its constant references to various scientific theories and laws.

Incredible change of view in the Dark Ones world

I loved the aspects of our world versus what happened in the divine court. The book gave a fascinating look at an alternate heaven. The leading characters were absolutely well developed and the story line was too. The female protagonist was awesome in her growing up in a religious cult then as an adult demanding that all ideas etc…be quantified by scientific knowledge and/or reviewed using scientific methods. It drove me crazy early in the book but became essential late in the book. Her best friend seemed like a flake early in the novel but became very important later on in the novel. The Dark One was a sympathetic character from non-acceptable circumstances of his birth to the rending of his soul leaving him an unredeemed Dark One. I couldn’t believe that he offered to remain “soulless” to save the Court from the evil machinations of the villains so long as he could remain with his Beloved.
This is a wonderful story with twists and turns and deeply moving romance.
