About this listen
Cameron Diaz follows up her number-one New York Times best seller, The Body Book, with a personal, practical, and authoritative guide that examines the art and science of growing older and offers concrete steps women can take to create abundant health and resilience as they age.
Cameron Diaz wrote The Body Book to help educate young women about how their bodies function, empowering them to make better-informed choices about their health and encouraging them to look beyond the latest health trends to understand their bodies at the cellular level. She interviewed doctors, scientists, nutritionists, and a host of other experts and shared what she'd learned - and what she wished she'd known 20 years earlier.
Now Cameron continues the journey she began, opening a conversation with her peers on an essential topic that for too long has been taboo in our society: the aging female body. In The Longevity Book, she shares the latest scientific research on how and why we age, synthesizing insights from top medical experts with her own thoughts, opinions, and experiences.
The Longevity Book explores what history, biology, neuroscience, and the women's health movement can teach us about maintaining optimal health as we transition from our 30s to midlife. From understanding how growing older impacts various bodily systems to the biological differences in the way aging affects men and women; the latest science on telomeres and slowing the rate of cognitive decline; how meditation heals us; and why love, friendship, and laughter matter for health, The Longevity Book offers an all-encompassing, holistic look at how the female body ages - and what we can all do to age better.
Without sugarcoating the hard facts - a 60-year-old body is different from a 35-five-year-old body no matter how much yoga you do - or romanticizing the upside - wisdom comes with age, if you live your life wisely - Cameron offers women a compassionate, informative, and intimate tour through the next stage of life.

Story
Have you wondered why some 60-year-olds look and feel like 40-year-olds and why some 40-year-olds look and feel like 60-year-olds? While many factors contribute to aging and illness, Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn discovered a biological indicator called telomerase, the enzyme that replenishes telomeres, which protect our genetic heritage. Dr. Blackburn and Dr. Elissa Epel's research shows that the length and health of one's telomeres are a biological underpinning of the long-hypothesized mind-body connection.

Story
We humans like to think of ourselves as highly evolved creatures. But if we are supposedly evolution's greatest creation, why do we have such bad knees? Why do we catch head colds so often - 200 times more often than a dog does? How come our wrists have so many useless bones? And are we really supposed to swallow and breathe through the same narrow tube? Surely there's been some kind of mistake. As professor of biology Nathan H. Lents explains in Human Errors, our evolutionary history is nothing if not a litany of mistakes, each more entertaining and enlightening than the last.

One of my favorites!
As a 52 year old woman this has always been my go to book on aging, attitude and life. I read this book a few years back and have listened to the audible version a few times. Filled with amazing information and wisdom on aging for women. Well written and delivered. One of the few actresses in the world who I have respect for and enjoy. A must read for us aging women! I rarely do reviews!.

A great compliment to the body book
I loved this book even more than the body book because I faced my secret fear of aging and realized that fearing it is a joke. Women are like wine. They only get better with age! I loved that Cameron was so giving to us all by facing the fear that we assume she would have the most. Thanks

I love Cameron’s message. She is one of my idols now. Every woman should read (listen to) this book. I read The Body Book twice and listened to it three times (up to now). I’ve read this book once and listened to it twice.
It’s a reference book we should all have.

A good read
It was a good book. I would recommend it. although I do have concerns in the part where she discusses nutrition, after I have recently decided to go Vegan. But since this isn't a book based on Veganism, I would still give it high marks.

Easy read... her intention is to help many women who read this Book.
while I am a health care professional & should know all of this information.
I ignored that I do not apply this knowledge to myself.
I took no interest in age related health.
I have had a paradime shift , now planing on following books advise on growing old and staying strong.
