Publisher's summary
International best-selling author and leading global expert on mental strength Amy Morin turns her focus to feminism, explaining what it means - and what it takes - to be a mentally strong woman in the age of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements.
The emergence of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements have awakened society and encouraged women to find their voice and claim their power. But to do this, women must learn to improve their own mental strength. Contending with a host of difficult issues - from sexual assault on college campuses, to equal pay and pay gaps, to mastering different negotiation styles - demands psychological toughness. In this crucial audiobook, prominent psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker Amy Morin gives women the techniques to build mental muscle - and just as important, she teaches them what not to do.
What does it mean to be a mentally strong woman? Delving into critical issues like sexism, social media, social comparison, and social pressure, Amy addresses this question and offers thoughtful, intelligent advice, practical tips, and specific strategies and combines them with personal experiences, stories from former patients, and both well-known and untold examples from women from across industries and pop culture. Throughout, she explores the areas women - and society at large - must focus on to become (and remain) mentally strong.
Amy reveals that healthy, mentally tough women don’t insist on perfection; they don’t compare themselves to other people; they don’t see vulnerability as a weakness; they don’t let self-doubt stop them from reaching their goals. Wise, grounded, and essential, 13 Things Mentally Strong Women Don’t Do can help every woman flourish - and ultimately improve our society as well.

Story
Superheroes don't start from glorious beginnings. Their origins are almost always marked by traumatic events that leave them helpless and scared. Batman witnessed his parents' murder. Superman was sent away from his dying planet with no one to guide him as he grew up. Orphaned Catwoman was forced to steal food to survive on the streets of Gotham. What makes these superheroes super is their determination to not be defined by helplessness. They embrace their origins, their flaws, and their mistakes and strive every day to become the best versions of themselves.

It was there that Sophia decided to start selling vintage clothes on eBay. I was shocked. This "stupid idea" wasn't supposed to work. I was shocked again when my success with this strategy continued for months (and to this day). I had to consider that maybe I wasn't the problem in those 10 years of mediocre results. Maybe it was my prior strategies that were ineffective, despite being oft-repeated as "the way to change" in countless books.

One of the best book I've ever listened to
I listen to a lot of audio book and I read a lot of books as well. I make it like a part time job because I love learning and applying those things to live a more authentic and happier life. This is hands down one of the most empowering book I've ever "read" and I am starting it right back over when I finish writing this review. I listened to her other book "13 things mentally strong people dont do" and that book was amazing but as a woman I felt this book on another level. The way she sets up the chapters and asks the viewers if they can see themselves in any of the following examples is beyond amazing and really makes you able to evaluate yourself. I will be giving this book to as many women I can, ot that's great!

The stories and experiences of the women interviewed were inspiring. The advice throughout seemed to unburden my everyday thoughts. Some chapters resonated so well I enjoyed listening to them twice.

A new tool in my tool box
I loved this book and found it really helpful specifically remembering to lift other women up and why that is so important.
I didn’t appreciate the mention of inner child work being “hokey”.
It was life changing for me and necessary after very deep childhood trauma.
Each sentence begins with the same cadence.
For someone with Mesopotamia, this made it difficult to listen to for long stretches but this is why I usually don’t do audiobooks.
My sight is failing me so I tried.
Overall, I am looking forward to reading other books by this author.

inspiring, insightful
I love the book! sometimes I had to listen to the section again it talks about 2 separate people but one lesson . I enjoy it ! I found this book insightful and at some point relatable , we're all going thru something. I highly recommend this book for people that need little understanding and some self interspection of the reasons why we feel or say things about ourselves.

Great Book
As a busy mom, audio books are amazing. Finished this in 3 days and Amy dropped so many truths on our mentality and self doubt at times. Well, majority of times.
Definitely listening to her other books after this.

A staple book to revisit often
I plan to not just listen to this book once but often. To go back to many chapters for references and reminders in my journey to become mentally strong & resilient.

SO Good!!
This one is one you would want to revisit after awhile…so many relatable experiences rolled-in with emotions. You could use this for personal development and get even more detail for the same thing years later.

I have listened to it twice through now
Worth listening to with a book for reference. I have gone through it twice.
Amy, you have amazing insight and a keen sense of awareness to those around you and your audience.

Truely Inspiring
I’ve never been someone to be all about “girl power“ but this book opened my eyes. I found the book to be very inspiring and a really good read. Even if you’re not all about the power of women this book gives life insight into how mentally succeed and be a more strong minded woman. I highly recommend it. I didn’t care much for the narrator, her tone was a little depressing at times. Once I get used to her voice I could then focus on the book and it’s message.
