Publisher's summary

John Livesay, a keynote speaker and author of the business book Better Selling Through Storytelling, presents us with a business fable set in Austin, Texas. It is about a sales representative whose old ways of selling are not working anymore. With the help of his colleague, he learns how to use storytelling in his sales meetings, which wins him more sales success than ever before. As a result, he becomes irresistible to his clients.

The Sale Is in the Tale reveals approaches that reach beyond business. They apply to many aspects of life, as is seen as the sales rep learns how to make his soft skills stronger. The listener accompanies the rep on his journey and learns how to use storytelling and strengthen their soft skills to improve their professional and personal relationships. From applying the methodology from The Sale Is in the Tale, you will:

  • Double your closing ratio
  • Learn how to get people to go from saying "I'm interested" to "I'm in"
  • Go from pushy to persuasive
  • Tug at heartstrings to get people to open their purse strings
  • Stop drowning in the sea of sameness

A "Greatest Salesman" for modern times!

I must admit, I thought I was going to hate this book. I'm familiar with John's work, have read his previous book, and my first thought was, "Why would he possibly write a sales fable??"
But within the first few pages I realised he had gone for a modern approach, telling a story about a struggling sales rep, and I was immediately grabbed by the story - I finished the whole thing in one day!
It's a great introduction to selling with stories, and it's not just that, it has plenty of other techniques sales people (or just people, really!) can use to improve their effectiveness and mental strength - and it actually works as a fiction book too, which is an amazing achievement for a book so packed with practical content.

A must read for anyone who values success.

This book was one of the best books I have read in terms of momentum storytelling and value. John takes you through the story of been in such a way that you can’t help but see how Ben’s life mirrors your life. As someone who values the gift of storytelling I was amazed at how John uses storytelling to not only teach us some very important information but entertains us along the way. The 555 structure is one that I have used from the moment I read it. I know this book will help so many people to find their authentic voice. Thank you John for putting this into the world.
