Lacks Depth

The story really lacked depth.

There were so many plot elements that just felt forced. I felt like I was reading a book for kids except with all the killing. It felt like a children's book for vikings.

Decent novel

A few plot elements are definitely a bit forced and main character has remained somewhat unnecessarily weak. For instance, killing immediately when capture and draining would be easy more strategically sound and quite easy. Other than that annoyance the story progresses at an ok pace and is written well.
