Publisher's summary

Beverly Jenkins is an incredibly popular author of African-American romances. The Taming of Jessi Rose is the unforgettable tale of Jessi Rose Clayton. In trying to save her family ranch from falling into the greedy hands of the wrong people, Jessi finds a unique solution-hiring outlaw railroad robber Griffin Blake as her protector. Now, with this strong, bronze-bodied man on her side, Jessi might just be tempted to mix business with pleasure.

This book is surprisingly interesting.

You get a good story from the 1800's; along with black history that we were never taught in high school. Ms. Jenkins gives you a good plot with lots of surprises along the way. And you'll see that the heroin in the story is much more then you may first think. Don't miss out on this fabulous story.

Great Story!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It gives people of color a place in history other than slaves or maids.

SO BEAUTIFUL

I LOVE Beverly Jenkins' novels before I started listening to them. I've read almost all of them and have a good number of them. All the character's are wonderfully described and Mr. Penny's voice for each of the characters is unique and well suited for that character. I can't wait for THOMAS PENNY to narrate the rest of them. I've listened to other romances by other narrators and as of now, I don't think there's one better then Mr. Penny. I fall in love with the character's all over again. It's hard not to listen to him read for almost the whole 10 hours straight, but a girl has to sleep. lol. Can't wait for the rest of them!!! (Praying that's it's soon, because I've only got one more Beverly Jenkins to listen to now "Captured" before I've exhausted Audible's availability.)

All the feels

Ms. Bev has the best historical novels out there next to my other favorite author Joan Vassar. I literally have them both on rotation. I have listened to this book at least five times now. Enough to recite the entire book. Thomas Penny has a few voices that grate on my nerves but having a man versus Kim Staunton is a breath of fresh air at times though. While it does seem like her stories have tue same plot with different characters, they are quite different. The history she gives to each book is fascinating and the genealogical aspects of her fictional characters suck me in. I find myself going back to each book while reading the blessings series, just to relive the earlier days. I’m all down the rabbit hole with Ms. Bev and these darn books. Great job as usual!! ❤️❤️

Jesse Rose

Enjoyable, in how a young man falls in love with an older woman and how their life intertwined in their childhood that made them the strong woman and train robber

Writing at it's best. Beverly Jenkins great!

Great story especially given the sly history lesson and nod to Native American history too.

Beautiful historical romance

What made the experience of listening to The Taming of Jessi Rose the most enjoyable?

Thomas Penny has a wonderful, rich voice that is an absolute pleasure to listen to, and he crafts his character voices carefully. Wonderful!

Any additional comments?

This is a fantastic cowboy/historical romance! Mr. Penny has a golden voice, and Ms. Jenkins has a beautiful variety of characters, who are lively and interesting. I enjoyed the story, I enjoyed spending time with the characters, and I enjoyed the history lessons.

I am confused by the categorization of this book. The only reason I heard of it is because someone recommended it to me, because I like historical romance, which this book most definitely is. If my friend had not told me about Ms. Jenkins, I never would have found her, because I don't shop in General Fiction.

Tamed by Love

The start was with a spitfire of a female that needed no man for help of any kind. But when she saw he was there to assist her against her nemesis she began to change. She could not understand why but Love had taken hold of her heart with each endearing and thoughtful task done by Mr. Blake. This is how we would like a relationship to progress in the modern age. We women are all doing is by ourselves and growl at men who try to assist us by removing barriers or giving kind words in order to spend time with us. Suffice it to say Mrs. Jenkin's has hit a home run with this wonderfully spirited woman who finds she can still hang with the boys but be soft with just one special man.
