About this listen

Over the next five years, millions of more Americans are expected to take Ozempic and other GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, which are rapidly being recognized as the miracle drugs of this century. If you’re not on them, you’ll probably know someone who is. What are the implications of the widespread use of these drugs, both on our bodies and our society? In this show, you’ll meet people across America who are either taking the jab or thinking about it, and the shocking intentional and unintentional results they are seeing. The Thin Line looks at the promise and the peril of GLP-1s today, and explores what will happen in the near future with the democratization of these breakthrough drugs.

Thought-provoking work on fat and our cultural stereotypes in the face of new drugs that are changing everything

Excellent modern conversation about where we are with body positivity, weight, stereotypes, and where we are going with the GLP’s. Great work, Sachi!

More balanced than expected and very comprehensive

For the record, I’m not longer with WW for reasons I think the host could pick up on during our interview. Kudos for including the attempted interference from corporate PR person. I hollered. It’s art. Thanks for putting this together Scaachi et al. -Summer (ch 7)

Informative and Enjoyable

This book covered the many facets of weight and weight loss that we are currently seeing as well as giving historical context. I felt that it gave a detailed look at the pros and cons of GLP-1 medications in an entertaining manner.

Thank you!!! I cried several times…

As a child I was underweight, the doctors telling my Mom that I needed to eat more. I was teased unmercifully for being called “skinny” and “beanpole.” Fast forward 25 years, my BMI pigeonholed me into the overweight category. I was a late bloomer, but went from a size 0 to an 8 when I was 17. At age 25 I began dieting, getting on the yo-yo train! Like so many “curvy” women I have spent the past 25 years, since my doctor told me I was overweight, trying every diet out there. I completely related to several of those that were interviewed! I have been a size 16, then dropping down to an 10, only gain even more weight and wearing a size 18. This was such an enlightening “read!” Very useful information and great presentation!

Some interesting tidbits

I found several chapters interesting and thought provoking. It’s an attempt at considering multiple aspects and impact of these new medications (not just medical but also psychological, on couples and dating, on various businesses, on addiction….). In the minus side, the parts about diet seem caricatural and unscientific , and there are parts that are. amusingly woke.
