About this listen

What happened in high school stayed in high school. Until now.

Five years ago Michael Graham betrayed the only person who ever really knew him. Since then he's made an art of hiding his sexual orientation from everyone. Including himself. So it's a shock when his past strolls right into the Harkness College locker room, sporting a bag of hockey gear and the same slow smile that had always rendered Graham defenseless.

For Graham, there is only one possible reaction: total, debilitating panic. With one loose word, the team's new left wing could destroy Graham's life as he knows it.

John Rikker is stuck being the new guy. Again. And it's worse than usual, because the media has latched on to the story of the only "out" player in Division One hockey. As the satellite trucks line the sidewalk outside the rink, his new teammates are not amused. And one player in particular looks sick every time he enters the room.

Rikker didn't exactly expect a warm welcome from Graham. But the guy won't even meet his eyes. From the looks of it, his former...best friend/boyfriend/whatever isn't doing so well. He drinks too much and can't focus during practice.

Either the two loneliest guys on the team will self-destruct from all the new pressures in their lives, or they can navigate the pain to find a way back to one another. To say that it won't be easy is the understatement of the year.

Warning: Unlike the other books in this series, this heartbreaking love story is about two guys. Contains sexual situations, dance music, snarky T-shirts, and a poker-playing grandmother.

One of the best books I’ve listened all year

One of the best books I’ve listened all year and I’ve listened to TONS! It’s realistic, emotional, beautiful, and a great love story. Love the narrators and the characters.

Narrate more books please!

I've been eyeing this book for a couple of months now. Since it's written by one of the authors of Him, I thought well why not give it a shot. Holy crap is it fantastic! First this is a super slow burn with low amounts of smut (lit. Like 5 scenes), but the story was magnificent. Rikker and Graham are two of the most loveable hardheaded characters ever, and I loved every second of them. I was so mad whenever I had to stop listening to work, or sleep lol.

Statement

Beautifully written and performed! I must confess, I am not a fan of MM romances. This book, this audiobook... beautiful, honest and real. I loved and felt every word.

Do not hesitate on this one

This is my first M/M romancey novel. I have to tell you and I’m embarrassed that I hesitated to listen, and I honestly don’t know for sure why that is. I am so glad this was my first and it won’t be my last. It’s an awesome listen and I encourage you to read. I was going to skip it because I didn’t think this would be something I could “relate” to or enjoy reading. Man was I wrong. This is a beautiful book. Maybe one of my new faves.

Amazing 5 Star Listen!

Loved Ricker & Graham's story. Their chemistry is amazing. Felt like I was there with them going through the struggles of being in a MM relationship. Thank you Sarina for bringing their amazing story to audiobook. Teddy Hamilton & Christian Fox were perfection as narrators!

Perfect M/M Love Story!

The Understatement of The Year was my second M/M listen by Sarina Bowen and is well worth listening to especially now that is included in the Audible Plus Package. Rikker and Graham's story is a brilliant second chance romance that will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions and leave you happy and swooning at the end.

Teddy Hamilton and Christian Fox are two of my all time favorite narrators and did an amazing job this college/hockey romance to life!

Loved it :)

I started the series and had no idea this book was male/male until I was already listening to it. I was confused for about 2 seconds but then decided to give it a chance...give love a chance. I’m so glad I did. I think love through adversity can be some of the purest love out there. It isn’t easy so it’s gotta be worth it. These 2 opened my eyes to that kind of live story. Great plot and great characters. Glad I listened :)
