About this listen

The long-awaited sequel to The City and the Dungeon is finally here.

Shocked by the discoveries in the furthest reaches of the Dungeon, the City prepares to delve even deeper for answers. A surprise attack by the subterranean Undercity throws them into chaos, and a massive war soon rages throughout the Dungeon itself. The Undercity proves a wily foe, and against all odds the City finds itself struggling to gain the upper hand. And all the while, the Dungeon remains capricious, mysterious, and deadly.

Alex Kenderman is recruited by the supreme commander of the City, Mansa Musa Red, to lend his tactical expertise to the war effort. He and his party must fight against Underdwellers and the Dungeon itself to obtain victory, before it is too late. But two sinister questions remain: Why did the Undercity start the war?

And who will win it?

The narrator sounds as if he is stuck in the bottom of a well. The content and storyline are decent but the dead echo of the narrator is distracting. I will purchase the third book but I hope they are able to retain the services of the narrator of the first book.

Not as good as the first.

I like the story. But felt the author wrote quick jump cuts all over the place. The could be different in the book, but only listened the the audiobook. I like to hear more.

Narrator wasn’t bad. But the audio quality was just terrible. It sounded like he recorded in an empty room. In addition to that I could hear doors opening and other sounds in the background.

It was ok.

As a general rule i don't like it when a story changes narrrators... i have been looking forward to this squeal for years and when i started playing it i immediately knew the narrator was different. A quick look at the audible page confirmed what i already knew to be true. I normally get over this but in this case the narrator chosen is very poor at his job. To top it all off the editing is amateurish at best.

TO THE AUTHOR: Did you listen to this before uploading it? The First book was so good and we waited so long for this one, Why would you do this to us?

Disappointing Narrator

The annoying pauses in the audio. Whoever edited this mess should be shot, it is damn near unlistenable.
As far as the story goes: The stupid religious crap is even more annoying. Suck a D Yahweh. Thankfully there isn't too much of the dumb God crap.
And making the MC an "advisor"... Those meetings were awful. The only way that kind of boring shit works is when every character involved is interesting, instead of.... none. And we have to care about the people they're talking about all the god damn time (undercity).
Then, there is hardly any character powering up, or fights, or game stuff.

Great....Except

The reader of this book Is not bad just has terrible audio, as far as the story goes I wish he kept the same attitude with some of the characters I know this guy can do better hopefully he does.

really bad audio

Other than a few nitpicks on the audio quality being a bit fuzzy, there are noises of a baby crying in the background during chapter 14/15 and maybe others. I'd definitely go back and listen to the audio after recording it if I was Allen to edit that out or record it over again when it's quiet. :)

Story is entertaining and I Love the World

I enjoyed the continuation of the story but the narrator is not as good as the one for the first book - sounds like he was in an empty room with bad acoustics and occasional background noise can be heard. Not the worst but definitely not the best performance ever.

Love the story - narrator not so much

Less dungeons and dragons and more meetings and managers. Very little happened other than talking about what they should do and awkward stilted teenage romance.

Too many meetings
