About this listen

I asked my skinny friends how they viewed food and exercise. Their tips helped me lose 75 pounds. I now want to share those tips with everyone.

The narrator was good, as for the book it was ok enough, with tips and ideas. Some of the tips I disagreed with but overall enjoyable.

Ok enough overall

This audio book was informative about how to think about food and suggestions about what to do in certain situations. As someone who has struggled with dieting and exercise my whole life, most of the information presented, I had previously heard. That being said, they were presented in a way to help change your mindset about your weight and diet habits. This was very useful and could be very beneficial to users.

I personally will be putting some of the ideas to the test in the coming months.

I requested a preview copy of this audio book and I am leaving a voluntary and honest review.

Interesting ideas and well thought out processes

The Contents
I was fully expecting this audio book to be filled with fluff and personal claims of this or that and guaranteed miracle results and physical perfection. Instead, I found it to be packed with actual real-world examples of identifiable yet probably unrecognized habits and behaviors that lead to weight gain and unhealthy lifestyles. I would guess 98% of the population of the industrialized world would discover at least a few of the solutions discussed by the author to be transformative in their lives if they were to implement them. I'll venture a guess that you will as well.

The Narration
The importance of a great narrator in an audio books is huge for me. I have experienced other audio books that I could not get into and couldn't wait to finish because of the deficiencies of the narrator. I wasn't expecting much in this short volume in that regard either. Wow was I wrong! Immediately, the silky smooth voice of Rebecca Roberts put a relieved smile on my face! There were no annoying inflections that colored the authors words, no hisses or other technical problems in the recording, no changes in pitch, volume, or intonation from one take to the next. THANK YOU!

Finally, I will state that I was given this book for free in exchange for this unbiased and honest review. I don't often rate a book or narration so high, but this one deserved it.

Aha! So that's why my belt is shrinking!

Great!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Probably not. It wasn't a bad book, but I think I would rather have the print edition.

Any additional comments?

There was nothing about this audio book that I would call "Life Changing". Everything in it has already been said before, sometimes many times. It really was not all that original or scholarly. I think would have preferred the print edition because at least then you would have had the humorous cartoons in it to break up the monotony.

No world changing revelations in this audio book.

Where does Think Like a Skinny Person rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The information contained in this audiobook was useful, relevant and sensible. I wish, though, that the information had been grouped into a more logical sequence. Specifically, I wished the author would have grouped the information into common themes, and then "front loaded" the listener with the name of the theme about to be discussed-as opposed to sharing ideas in what felt like a random set of suggestions.

Nevertheless, I was greatly appreciative of the concept of "true" versus "false" cravings-and how to differentiate them-it made TOTAL sense, and it was also very practical!

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

This title sounded interesting. And, it was interesting to see from the authors perspective. I found some parts more engaging or relatable than others. But, that makes sense, as we are all different. Overall, an interesting listen.

Was curious

I really enjoyed this book. It's not too long or complicated. It's just a bunch of very good pointers to help you stay healthy that make sense that people (including me) often forget about. For example, get more sleep. You hear that all the time, but I didn't realize that this would reset not only my brain, but my digestive system too.

The narration was excellent. I can't imagine that it could have been read any better, or with more enthusiasm and variation in voice. In short, she kept my interest and eager for the next chapter.

Great tips to stay healthy!

So if we want to be good at a particular skill we watch others who are great at that skill. So why not apply that simple idea to weight loss. Let's analyse what the skinny people do to be skinny. That's exactly what this super informative book does. Think Like a Skinny Person made me think about my skinny friends and my fat friends too. I started seeing the book in my friends and co-workers. Things we do to sabotage our own weight loss.

Although this book is short, only a little over an hour, Think Like a Skinny Person has a lot of information in it. I think I have more tools now in my toolbox to stay healthy and maximize my weight loss results. James Livingood did a great job of making this book both informative and entertaining.

Rebecca Roberts is a wonderful narrator with such enthusiasm.
