Publisher's summary
Eliminate confusion and chaos as you fill your home with 25 delightful, low-maintenance, easy-to-grow houseplants. Colorful, lively, and visually appealing, plants are unsurprisingly beneficial to grow at home. From purifying the air to reducing stress, growing plants within your home is truly a rewarding experience.
Now, you’ve heard this before, haven’t you? You’re probably rolling your eyes after hearing it for the umpteenth time. So, let’s add some science behind this reasoning.
In a clean air study by NASA, researchers found that certain house plants were capable of removing harmful pollutants from the air. Plants not only look good, but they’re good for you, too! However, house plants aren’t going to sprout on their own, are they? And this is where you might hit a wall. While it may seem that all a plant really needs is sunlight with water added now and then, it just doesn’t work like that. A plant is just like you–needing the right amount of food, sunlight, water, and air in order to thrive. You might be putting your plant at risk simply by exposing it to direct, harsh sunlight, or by overwatering it in your excitement. You could also be slowly killing it by keeping your plant in places where it looks good, but doesn’t have access to the resources it needs.
Or perhaps you find growing plants is too much work, and you’d rather employ NASA to do the job for you. Thankfully, the art of nurturing houseplants actually boils down to four simple conditions that you need to take care of, and it’s not that hard to master. In this guide aimed at helping you grow plants indoors, you will discover:
- Twenty-five plant species for every corner of your home–neatly profiled with tips, ideas, and suggestions to help you get going.
- The hardiest, low-maintenance plants that will laugh in the face of your neglect (some of these even grow in the desert).
- How to choose the right location for your plants (hint: it’s definitely not NASA’s sealed chambers).
- Four key conditions to grow and heal.

This is great information even for newbies!
This book is handy for anyone who loves plants but hates killing them because they don't know what they are doing. (like I used to be) The plants included are beautiful and low-maintenance, making them perfect for beginners or anyone with a busy schedule. The book is filled with personality and helps you relate to the nature of your new houseplant by sharing interesting facts about where it comes from in the world, so you can understand your new plant pal and choose the ideal spot in your home for it to flourish. The author provides tips on lighting, watering, and soil types for each plant, as well as potential challenges to watch out for. The location section helped me understand each plant's needs. It also provides practical tips on caring for your houseplants. One thing I appreciated about this book was the variety of plants included. I recommend this.
