Publisher's summary

Do you want to use your body to its fullest potential while also protecting and sustaining it for years to come?

In the summer of 2016, I suffered an injury to my right knee. I knew I had pulled a muscle, but couldn’t figure out which one. I shunned away from getting an MRI because I had too much movement in my leg to have torn a meniscus, ACL, or MCL. For years, there were constant doctor visits and opinions, prescriptions, and physical therapy, but all the while the pain persisted on and off. It interfered with driving, standing, and my workouts. It wasn’t until a friend told me that I should start stretching every day and I listened that my pain started to fade away.

This self-made miracle brought me into the world of stretching, and it has caused me to realize how important it is for the entire body. Now, I want to share all that I’ve learned with you.

In this book you will discover:

An entry point into the world of starting to move your body.

The many ways that stretching can have amazing effects on your body.

A catalog of stretches for every major section of your body.

Images and step-by-step instructions to perform each stretch in good and accurate form.

Access to the world of flexibility and body maintenance, whether you are a super athlete or don’t exercise at all.

I want to make sure that I am clear. You do not have to be someone who stretches every day or someone who exercises several times a week. This audiobook was made for the beginner who’s never used their body before to the moderately and advanced active man. This audiobook is your guide to a healthy, fully functioning body and a happy healthy life through stretching.

Great Advice

This book talks about how men don't stretch as much as they should and how likely they are to just push through an injury more than women do. This is great for men who are just starting to do stretching to men who are advance exercisers. It's great for joint pain and other pain men have on a regular basis.

Learning the why is just as important as the how!

This book brought a new sense of understanding as to why we stretch and explained it in an easy-to-understand way. The author shares their experience with injury and how stretching was crucial to their recovery. The book also goes beyond stretching and flexibility, offering valuable information on proper warm-up techniques and the importance of cooling down after exercise. I love how it discusses the science behind why we stretch and gives the benefits of improved flexibility. Key takeaways include the importance of warming up before stretching, the difference between static and dynamic stretching, and the benefits of having stretching in your daily routine. The audiobook also includes instructive, timed stretches to use. If needed, consult a doctor before strenuous actions, but you can start right away, and stretching is an excellent choice for many, especially as we age. It also goes over functional body systems that relate to the importance of stretching. I recommend this.

Slow down & stay strong

I always thought that stretching is such an underrated component of a balanced exercise regime, so it was wonderful to come across a handy guide like this to get back into good habits. Healthy, mindful, improves performance in sports and other physical activities, and helps to prevent injuries - I might be forgetting some of the benefits, but this list alone makes it hard to argue that this isn't a crucial aspect of well-being. Let's age with health and strength and avoid all silly injuries - totally worth a listen.

Life changing content!

As I used to do sport on a professional level when I was younger I know how important is stretching not just for someone who does an activity every single day but to someone who is just new to this.

It is very important to know the effects that stretching can help our body and health these days and because of this book, I just started to pick up this really good habit again. I stretch and meditate now every second day at least for 2 hours during the evening and already feel way much better. This guide it made me easier how to and where to start it again!

A definitely recommended Stretching and Flexibility guide not just for sports athletes but beginners as well!

Great book, okay audiobook

I really enjoyed the book, as the information was well researched, and the author speaks from personal experience. However, there were two issues I had with the book:

1. The ending felt very textbook-esque, as it goes through a long list of stretches without so much as a break to keep things fresh. It would be a better idea to pick up a physical copy, as it will make searching for a specific stretch a lot easier.

2. I simply did not like the narrator. He reminds me of the “old man voice” that you hear on many medical commercials, who speaks in a fast and monotone manner. I often found myself zoning out, and had to rewind just because of it.

Is this book worth reading? Yes, but it would be much more worth your time to get a physical copy, instead of the audiobook.
