This book provides an in-depth view into the lives of individuals suffering from trauma after sexual betrayal. Using his research data from more than 5,000 individuals who have experienced betrayal, Dr. Skinner outlines why betrayal triggers trauma and then provides the essential tools for healing.
Before introducing solutions to treat the trauma, Dr. Skinner provides insight into why most couples don't do the disclosure process right and how an effective disclosure can lead to genuine healing and recovery (see chapter five).

Finally answers to all my questions after 6 months of seeking help
This book explained everything perfectly & introduced an evidence based method of healing of which I was unaware. The resources Dr. Skinner has made available online are invaluable. I love that he narrates his own book and it is obvious that he cares about the people who are living with this trauma. Most of all Dr. Skinner gave me hope and showed me specifically how he disassembles the jumble of insane emotions that keep us stuck, isolated, self blaming, numb & depressed. I have finally located a therapist with appropriate credentials I didn’t know how to find. Nor did the other forgiveness based counselors I spoke to. I can’t believe the diagnosis is so obvious to me now yet i couldn’t put a name on it. I feel like the professional community is blind to the PTSD approach or perhaps reluctant to name it as such. Anyway, I am so very grateful. I am looking forward to healing and awakening to the rest of my life!

Healing and hope
A year ago I discovered my husbands sexual addiction and many affairs. I was devastated and fell to the depths of despair. This book is a lifeline to finding and healing myself. I appreciate that Dr Skinner not only has words of wisdom and hope but integrates the science of healing. This is a book of self discovery and finding self love regardless if the relationship survives. It is encouraging and gives solid practical healing tools.
