About this listen

In this revised and updated third edition of Unbeatable Mind, Mark Divine offers his philosophy and methods for developing maximum potential through integrated warrior development. This work was created through trial and error, proving to thousands of clients that they are capable of 20 times more than what they believe.

The powerful principles for forging deep character, mental toughness, and an elite team provided in this book are the foundation of the Unbeatable Mind "working in" program of Divine's SEALFIT Academies and renowned Kokoro Camp. They are being employed by a growing number of coaches, professors, therapists, doctors, and business professionals worldwide.

Commander Divine is a retired Navy SEAL and human performance expert who works with elite military, sport, and corporate teams, SEAL/SOF candidates, and others seeking to maximize their potential, leading to more balanced success and happiness. The training is leading to breakthroughs in all walks of life and cultivating a robust community of practitioners.

This book will specifically help you develop:

  • Mental clarity - to make better decisions while under pressure.
  • Concentration - to focus on the mission until victory is assured.
  • Awareness - to be more sensitive to your internal and external radar.
  • Leadership authenticity - to be a heart-centered leader and service-oriented teammate.
  • Intuition - to learn to trust your gut and use mental imagery to your advantage.
  • Offensive "sheepdog" mindset - to avoid danger and stay one step ahead of the competition or enemy.
  • Warrior spirit - to deepen your willpower, intention, and connection with your spiritual self.

Mark Divine has made a career out of being tough not being a writer. His knee deep manifesto on the tricks of the trade to build mental toughness, resilience, and leadership techniques are excellent avenues for the interested reader to pursue. My one qualm is that there wasn't more information given, but since each technique, skill, mindset, regimen, etc. could fill a book, the author is unfortunately left presenting at most a slightly detailed explanation of the overall concept while providing an example or two.

His personal experiences peppered throughout are inspiring, and display the confidence he mentions throughout the book. He is absolutely sure of himself which makes it easy to want to take his advice. Another slight criticism is that his stories almost go out of there way at points to dig into liberal politics. I expect a man of Divine's balanced and in-check emotional state to forego this out of place and distracting fluff.

Overall not a bad resource, the narrator takes an hour or so to get comfortable with but his mispronunciation and unnatural cadence persists throughout the end. By the final chapter, it's more something to chuckle at than get distracted over. I would never listen to him read prose, and short examples within this book as quotations drive this point home, however as he's narrating a rather dry primer on self-discipline, the narration can't really do too much more harm to the source material.

Shares some great insights and techniques - but not in great detail

I like Mark Devine, and I like the purpose of this book. The book and contests are worthwhile, but it's all terribly narrated. Do not recommend the audio version.

Good book, bad narrating.

Really enjoyed this. It tied together many of the concepts and ideas I’ve heard about before but gives the reader a much deeper understanding. Specifically the section on box breathing was very informative and useful. Author also mentions Peter Diamandis and
TFT training. Both of which I’ve read and found valuable.

Excellent book for self discipline

The story is a great way for you to practice to set your mind. I didn’t like the narrator as much because he was to “word for word” and it sounded as if a computer was reading it. Other than that I will listen to the book again.

A great way to set your mind

A pretty good read with a lot of useful information , but wish the narration was a little better. It was a bit monotone.

Good enough.
