About this listen

"Fear the living, fear the dead, fear the Unspeakable."

Kenning Hall was more than a country home, it was the family's sanctuary away from the frenetic pace of London, until that day.

What happened that day was so horrifying, so devastating, that the place was left to ruin, until now.

A decade later, 32-year-old Rupert Harrison, the only surviving heir to the Harrison publishing dynasty, has ordered Kenning Hall restored to its former glory.

It's time to go back.

Now, if you think you've heard this story before, think again. This is just the beginning.

Something is waiting at Kenning Hall. Something vengeful, malevolent, and it will follow him home.

This book isn't creepy, it's downright terrifying. Be warned: Daylight will not save you.

Haunting

I know whenever I get one of marturano’s books I won’t be disappointed. As always he knows how to intertwine multiple storylines and bring them all together with several twists, turns and surprises to keep you guessing. This one almost had to many separate plot lines to characters that I thought I’d get lost. But it all comes together in the end. I really enjoyed it. And the narrator did a great job tho the voice for Rachel and whenever one of the girls were hollering out it got bit on edge. But overall it was good and you could tell the different voices for each individual character. Was definitely worth the credit.

Never lets you down

If you could sum up Unspeakable in three words, what would they be?

Thrilling, chilling, killing!

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the way it wrapped you up into the nitty gritty of the lives of each individual in the story, and yet managed to drag them all together into this gruesome tale!

What does Matt Addis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I feel he adds an extra atmosphere to the book, he is the perfect narrator, adding and subtracting emotion or tension where it needs to be, and handles the demands of the text very well!

If you could take any character from Unspeakable out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would take Rachel or Ashley out to dinner because I find them to be the kind of women you absolutely root for in life, they have wit, grit and determination and they are very endearing characters for me.

Any additional comments?

If only this could become some kind of series!

Ice Cold Thriller!

I could not figure out the purpose of this story. I felt jerked around between perspective changed, which made getting into the story challenging. By the end of the book, I was beyond annoyed with the narration.

There's a lot of screaming and shouting that takes place in the story, and the narrator chose to utilize a quiet yell which sounded more like he was retelling a silly little story, rather than someone fearing for their life. No, I don't want anyone to actually scream in my ear, but each unemotional, "nooooooo, please save meh," would grate on my nerves. And the 'meh' is not me attempting to describe a specific accent, it's legitimately how the narrator voices the character.

The voices for each individual character drove me nuts as well. The narrator chose to use a very pompous and nasally voice for the main character who, while rich, seemed kind of chill. When he was just narrating the story, his voice was very pleasant to listen to. Character voices, though...oof.

The book just kind of...ended. I did find myself tuning this story out a lot as I listened, and was shocked when I heard, "audible hopes you enjoyed this presentation," before I realized the story ended. Maybe it would have been better to have read the book instead, but after listening to The Haunted series, I had high hopes for this.

Underwhelming

First let me say this book should come with a warning that it contains some graphic sex scenes. Im not a prude but if I wanted to hear about some of the acts described I would have just bought a romance novel. All in all the story itself was good. It did seem to wander a bit as the story progressed, including things that weren’t necessary for the flow of the story. Its creepy and spooky so if you like these type of books check it out.

Struggled

I fully expected this book to be terrifying & was quite disappointed. The story didn’t take off until the last 2.5-3 hours. Prior to that, nothing was really happening. I also found it to be somewhat predictable.

Hard to finish

I loved the book but at first I was concerned that I hadn't purchased a horror novel. But then the good stuff came along. I hope he writes a second one...even a prequel about Ashley's life before Rupert and maybe through in how the hell Jason got Rachel to drop everything for a dick like him.

Slow but fantastic

Was very x-rated, which I did not expect. Also, had a deep underlying meaning you won't fully understand until the end, maybe (I could have made that up). Overall, still enjoyable, eventful, and exciting.

Certainly Suprising

the beginning was boring and jump around a lot this story can be really confusing because it looks into several different peoples life at the very end it all comes together sort of still a little confused

So So

This weighty tome is in desperate need of aggressive editing... it's far too long winded,.. taking an entire chapter when a more pleasing synopsis of events could've been summed up in a paragraph or two...
Sigh,... I had SUCH high hopes for this read,.. as I had positively gushed with enthusiasm over his book "Psychosis "
Rating it 5 star all the way, with a
BRILLIANT narrator to boot...
Not so this one , 1 star all around.. it had too many plots, layers of unnecessary dialogue, repetitive whining, wincing, all diluting what
COULD have been a top notch read.
EDIT,.. EDIT,...EDIT...

NEEDS AGGRESSIVE EDITING..!!!
