One of the absolute best historical romances of all time

For the past 5 years, I have been on a historical romance novel "kick". 98% of what I read is this genre- Focusing on regency England. Maya Banks and this novel are easily in my top 10 of at least 1500 novels.

Suspend Belief!

If you know anything about this period in England, one will realize that an unmarried woman would never approach a man to teach her lovemaking skills; however, it works. Plot had just enough tension to make reading Until Midnight enjoyable for a few hours.

Loved it

I loved this so much! The love story was sweet. The dash of mystery was perfect because it didn’t overpower the story. And of course Tim Campbell is an excellent narrator. Great book! I loved it.

Absolutely loved it!

From the first few minutes, I was entranced by this book. The storyline was compelling, the characters were charming and relatable, and the sense of realism in the romantic desires of the heroine were refreshing.
I like this author and have read many of her works, however, after listening to the first 3 books of this series and finding myself bored, I almost didn't listen to this one, but I am so glad that I did. In my opinion it's the best of the set.
As always, Tim Campbell gave a phenomenal performance as narrator. He is hands down one of the best narrators I've ever heard.

The 2nd book I've read by M. Banks-EXCELLENT

This is the second book I've listened to by Maya Banks and I'm looking forward to many more hours of listening/reading her many books because she is such a good writer! Her writing is tight and flowing. Every sentence adds to the story. Nothing is extraneous. Also, because there is a mystery involved, the details keep you guessing until the denouement. Good suspense. The romance story had me close to tears a couple of times. Granted, I'm a softy as far as romance is concerned but I have never before been close to tears while listening to a book. I've been close while reading but not while listening. Perhaps it was because of the narrator's performance. Tim Campbell is one of my favorite narrators and he again proves his talent with this performance.

Storyline not new but parts are well done

The storyline gets your attention right away with the expectation that Jenna will experience sexual exploration and sensual desire in her contacts with Greyson. Her experience bar at this point is set extremely low as her fiancé is repugnant and Jenna has had no other experiences to compare to her relationship with her fiancé. Initially the meetings with Greyson focused on sharing confidences so, of course, the relationship developed along more than sexual sensual lines causing conflict between Jenna’s family expectations, her commitment to her weird fiancé, and her feelings for Greyson. The listener must suspend disbelief in the following storylines: 1. Although she comes from a close family no one, including Jenna, questions or objects initially to her engagement to the horrible fiancé, 2. Jenna shares a house with her brothers but is able to carry out clandestine meetings with Greyson, 3. That Greyson was ever a rake, his past rakish behaviors were never satisfactorily addressed, and finally the behaviors and roles of characters essential to the story ending are disingenuous - I won’t go into the ending and spoil it for other listeners.

My new #2 favorite author!!!

I held off on reviews for the entire series as I wanted to see if they all lived up to the first book, "Duchess of My Heart". I'm happy to say that Maya Banks has hit a home run with this series. Excellent story, character development, containing romance, sex in the correct context, suspense, and protagonists that I loved. I heartily recommend this series. Timothy Campbell delivered, as he always does, a top-notch narration!

Great end to a good series

The Vault series have it all regency romance with adventure, the relationship and interactions are throughout the book, not just finally together near the end. Reminds me of Laura Kinsale and Georgette Heyer. So many hours of fun and enjoyment
