About this listen

Gregory met Truck-kun during a fated encounter. He wasn't exactly thrilled to receive the kiss of steel, knowing perils awaited.

Awakened in as Dungeon Lord, he can access a system interface that rewards excellence. Years of training never prepared him for a challenge so daunting, but he's not alone. With each successful defense, his power grows and one thing is certain, Gregory has no problem defending his dungeon and those in it he holds dear.

Miscast narration

The male voice is so nasally you may find yourself wondering if they’d cast a minecraft villager. The female voice lacking so much inflection you may find yourself wondering if they used AI.

Insults aside please listen to the preview before buying. If the voices are something you can tolerate then take the dive. Personally I can power through but it’s worth a fair warning to others.

disjointed narration

The male MC is voiced by the male voice actor but everything else is voiced by the female voice actor. It's very disjointed and off putting for me. The MC speaks with one voice and thinks with another. Paraphrased example of the MC speaking:
Male VA: "I never intended for this to happen"
Female VA: "I said with a snicker"

disappointing

This book became a chore fairly quickly. The language was good and the writer is obviously skilled. However, in an attempt to be unique, the dungeon experience was made such that the characters couldn't progress beyond their natural limits. The dungeon could progress in levels, but to very limited effect, and only through manually digging. The lack of progression made it a slog. In addition, the mc jumps right to trying to make babies 8 at a time with a woman before he can even claim to love her. All this in a life and death situation where starvation is a real threat, as well as the deadly monsters and invaders who are trying to kill them. Babies in a harem story always detract from the fun, flirty and sexy atmosphere, and only seem relevant to the hard core breeding fans.

room to grow

I think this series has the potential to be really good, not that it was bad by any means. right when stuff was really popping off it was pretty much over and it left me wanting more. I'll definitely give the next book a listen..

Dungeon building from the start.

This is just what I expected from this author, this cover, and these great narrators.
MC becomes a dungeon lord and starts out at the beginning with very little help from the system and is able to bring in gorgeous competent women to help him build up his harem dungeon.
I'm giving this book 8 out of 5 stars.
