About this listen

Asher's ordinary life is shattered when he is suddenly yanked from his daily commute and thrust into a brutal world of monstrous creatures, deadly traps, and the relentless games of the Nexus.

The train station harbors danger. Each day, one portal opens, leading to daunting trials and battles of life and death commanded by masked facilitators.

Asher is forced to rely on his instincts and his weapon. He must navigate this treacherous world, both solo and with teams, and contend with other players, each harboring their own motives and ambitions. Confronted with unimaginable challenges, every day unveils a new hurdle, and each victory is bitterly earned. In this world intent on crushing him, Asher must fight to survive.

His only hope: become the champion.

Entertaining, and unexpectedly good. the voice reader was perfect, can't wait to listen to vol. 2.
Hope it's the same reader, changes between books are my only nit pick.

Very interesting and enjoyable.

Some of the system notifications(mostly inventory) was a bit repetitive. that said there challenge descriptions were very well done. The characters were engaging and fun. can't wait for the Vol 2 audiobook.

Great setup Title

DNF

Good fight scenes but not much else to the book. Very little backstory, very little detail on characters. Just names and some motivations. I gave it a couple hours, but it’s starting to feel like a MOBA in book form. It’s PVE, but the characters can also PVP.

Not much story

the mane Mc was to good hearted I thank he should have a female lover

man's best friend

The MC does not deal with the main murderer when he can and lets things fester. It is really annoying when everyone is in life and death situations to be honorable with evil.

Let the killers live for dramatic effect

ok so I'm I the only one who noticed that there are many inconsistencies in the story like when he has to leave the rope behind but it's magically back in his inventory or how it said he found all of these items but never mentioned them in the break down of his inventory like did he really just leave the magic weapon behind?

am I missing something

Made me want to buy the next in the series. An enjoyable version of a rpg with less time on stats/spells/crafting and more time on story and character building.

Fun book

about half way through I have to drop this one. this is poorly written. the stat readings and pop up notifications take up the majority of the dialogue presented. Character backgrounds are non-existent. no real grounding in the environment or context of place. No real conflict/ danger. just a bad knock off of TWSA.

Please don't waste your time

in the very first minutes of the book, the protagonist mentions their dog "Hank" for the next 10 chapters I waited for him to realize nobody was looking after Hank! when he finally brings up the dog again, it's name has been changed to "Jax" if the author can't care enough to be consistent on that then I dint care enough continue. Luke Daniel's gave a workman like performance. read the schlock, cashed the check.

name changes between chapters.

every time the MC takes damage, the system tells him how much damage he took, from which enemy, the consequences of reaching 0 hit points, and to be careful going forward.

at a shop, the merchant tells him what each item is, how much it costs, and how to use it. MC then decides to buy X qty of items A B and C. the system then tells MC how many items he just bought, the description of each item, and how to use it.

it took 7 minutes to buy half a dozen potions.

the same happens with challenges. the challenge is explained by the moderator, then by the system, then by the MC as he explains his interpretation of what he heard, then throughout the challenge by as people shout the win condition every few minutes, in case we forgot.

too repetitive
