Required reading for life

I’ve recently had some opportunities to put to practice the skills taught in this book. It has been so empowering and, dare I say it, fun! I wish I had read this book many years ago. It would have saved me many years of being manipulated by guilt and obligation. I’m recommending it to everyone I know who may have the occasion to have to deal with a manipulative person (which is everyone)! The author teaches by giving practical examples, and it really works!

Well written..

Essentially this book teaches you how to be assertive on your needs. As well as keeping you from taking responsibilities for others needs. Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn how to be more assertive.

Simple practical steps - I can’t wait to start.

Most growth books do a lot of why discussion - reinforcing our pre-existing knowledge we need to change in an area (why else did we buy a book on that subject?)
This book gives an easy map - simple steps to be practiced - backed by almost 30 dialogue sessions showing how the steps will sound in actual practice and the effect of using them.

When you hear a book and say - “wow, I can’t wait to start implementing what this book suggests”, you know is a good one and can change your life. This is just such a book.

Finally, actual tools to be assertive

I’ve listen to probably six or seven books about assertiveness or saying no, and this is the only one that actually breaks down the conversations and the techniques to do it. Such a breath of fresh air and I’m already starting to change the way I interact with people

Helpful

There are many sample dialogues, and it is well read. If you lack the ability to be assertive or you are a people pleaser who wants to change, this is a helpful read or listen!

Everyone Should Read This

This book taught me so much about assertiveness and how to deal with manipulation. It also showed me how I was being manipulative or passive aggressive with others. Amazing book.

Have healthier relationships

Fantastic book on how to be assertive in our daily communication. The author outlines healthy communication in a way in which you stand up for what you believe while allowing the other person to make their own choices, thus allowing for mutual compromise if that is possible.either way we get to maintain our own power and our communication and in our lives.
