About this listen

The Chronicles of William Wilde continues!

The raid on Sinskrill was a success, but the battle is only just beginning. William realizes the stakes at hand. He still has to find a way to prevent Lord Shet, the god of the mahavans, from returning to Earth from the faraway world of Seminal. If he doesn’t, Arylyn will be destroyed.

But strange visions plague his mind: an albino monster who infects William with anger. It is Sapient Dormant, the Overward of the necrosed and tasked by Shet to recover a long lost talisman of power. The Servitor of Sinskrill also advances his own plans. He’s learned Arylyn’s location and will do whatever he can to bring a crippling blow to the magi.

Serena struggles with her own path, torn between loyalty and love for William and a desire to see her family safe. Rukh and Jessira seek to provide balance to the magi. Only they have the skill and training to keep Arylyn safe, but their memories of their shared past life on Arisa remain fragmented, and their greatest allies, their Kesarins - Aia and Shon - are nowhere to be found.

And on Seminal, Lord Shet schemes, certain of his coming victory.

Great continuation of the series, a lot of progress in the story and characters, and I'm interested to see what happens next!

Another action packed novel!

The little Easter egg from previous books

I like this book and all of the tension built up and expressed throughout but I was a little annoyed by what seemed like perfect strategies that simply turned into a retarded game of cat and mouse and total disaster for both sides. I still recommend the book especially since it goes in line with the rest and it's not too far-fetched to believe plans in a battle can go wrong I just think there could have been better implemented plans and all of the master strategists I should have been able to come up with something better but I'm not the author and I am definitely not the general of the army lol

I thought it was pretty good

I love everything about this book and literally finished it in two days. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Still loving the cultural glimpses of the times on earth like the references to music, movies, and the way we talked back then.

Riveting!

Davis Ashura is an amazing author. With Nick Podehl this series is one of my new favorites. I will definitely be listening to it again in the future.

Another fantastic story

To get the most out of this book you really need to read/listen to the Castes and Outcastes series. I admit I was thoroughly entertained but the book bounced through many other characters and especially placed too much emphasis on Rook and Jezeera. And many loose strings with no answers...

Overall good but...

Just not when or how many. And what unknown surprises await in the mists of the unknown.

It is difficult to mobilize a trained force when there has not been any need for a long time. Especially if the enemy is considered a fable.

But when events changed the Outlook and training and defenses are strengthened to prepare for the unimaginable, fear and denial still hamper the population from full participation.

When the enemy is spotted and body count increases of both sides, desperate measures compound the problems for everyone.

As the battles progress, so does the importance of the next book in the series. Choose wisely as you are surrounded by action and adventure that blends the future and the past. Strange words make it more real than a computer game. Strange creatures with unusual abilities and skills stir up bad dreams and real fears.

But growing friendships and mutual support helps our heroes out of tough situation and love makes the world go round.

You know that they are coming!

Confession: I enjoy any performed book by this narrator.
This is a teenaged level book series involving the typical main hero and his eventual sidekicks. The author does a good job with character development and overall tells a slightly different story of mages versus mages who live on different islands and have contrasting philosophies. Nothing really blew me away by the story but nonetheless, I enjoyed it. It was well written and performed by one of the industry bests.

I really enjoy these books

Hello Davis, I started following your series a while back and have been purchasing them all at a prodigious rate. I love your books and the stories within. I love how plots overlap and you include good foreshadowing.

I have one complaint, really only one. You build incredibly romantic and attractive loving relationships between people and I love it. Williams love life, however, has been so dragged out at this point that I’m actually rooting for both characters ending up alone and miserable hahaha.

In books there seems to be two problems with romantic pacing. Either people are fully in love and committed too quickly or too slowly. There is a threshold where the average person will be thinking “Sh*t or get off the pot”. Unlike in some of your other books where there are cultural restrictions preventing relationships, in this one most side characters are just as annoyed as I am by it.

I think your romantic pacing would be greatly fixed by having less flimsy reasons for them to not pursue one another. I just don’t believe that two young people who are madly in love and encouraged by others to date each other are somehow resisting that push.

In many stories writers will give their characters plot armor…you give your characters’ “Single Status” plot armor. Not a large complaint overall considering how much I love your books, but dear god man I’m tired of hearing about their love with nothing happening.

Anyway, thank you for the great books and stories my dude!

Great series…But…
