About this listen

Jessica Norton is a woman on the run, a sensational lead item on the nightly news, accused of the murders of four of her fellow staffers for a US senator. Jon Harper is a grieving father whose life has crumbled over the death of his young daughter. When Jon picks up Jess hitchhiking on a deserted Texas highway one rainy night, he is pitched into the middle of a massive conspiracy, one that threatens the very future of the United States.

From having nothing to live for, Jon suddenly finds himself the protector of someone with everything to live for, someone desperate to uncover the conspiracy that has ruined her life. Staying two steps ahead of the police, and barely one step ahead of the powerful organization that wants Jess dead, Jon discovers that Jess is harboring a secret of her own, a strange inner "voice" providing cryptic clues for them to follow.

Part political thriller and part chase novel, Wisdom Spring takes listeners on a fast-paced, suspenseful ride along the highways of the US and Canada, into the far reaches of the Alaskan wilderness. Along the way, the two unlikely heroes transition from helpless prey into proficient hunters as the mysterious clues eventually lead them to a violent final confrontation with corrupt forces at the highest levels of government.

Wisdom Spring

Wisdom Spring
: Andrew Cunningham

This is the first book I've listened to by this author. This one features both male and female protagonists that are running from their past. They meet up and the suspense begins. Throw in a wacky government conspiracy a bit of romance and lots of action. This was a good listen.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed, by Greg Hernandez.

Woman On the Run

It's getting harder and harder to go "off the grid" and disappear--unless you're dead, of course. There are lots of powerful people who want to find our heroine and make that happen. But she has an ace in the hole, a voice that sometimes gives her hints about what she should do next. Like, she should hitch a ride with a suicidal, grieving father.

Action Packed

After causing the death of his daughter by trying an unapproved drug for her cancer, Jon Harper chucks everything and runs away from life. On a lonely Texas road he picks up a hitchhiker, Jessica Norton, who is also on the run, accused of murdering four of her colleagues, aides to a U.S. Senator who Jessica claims is not who he claims to be. She knows this because she hears a ‘voice’ in her head that seems to be guiding her to information that will answer all her questions, and that seems to have ‘guided’ her to Jon.
In a very short time, Jon finds that he does in fact have a purpose in life; protecting Jessica as she seeks answers, while eluding the law and the powerful hidden group that wants her dead. The two find themselves running across Canada and the wilderness of Alaska, learning to be hunters rather than the hunted, just steps ahead of powerful forces.
Wisdom Spring by Andrew Cunningham is a chilling thriller that goes behind the headlines and into the dark corridors of unchecked power at the highest levels. From a slow, dark start, the tension and pace ratchets up bit by bit and races to an explosive climax. Great summertime reading for people who like their action nonstop.

Excellent Thriller with a Paranormal Flavor

Any additional comments?

Thrillers (especially conspiracy theory ones about the US government) usually are not my cup of tea. But "Wisdom Spring" was an absolutely phenomenal adventure that I had a really, really hard time putting down. A man and a woman are both running from a questionable past and some powerful, unseen forces. They team up in an attempt to stay alive. The characters in this book have an impressive depth and complexity that had me emotionally invested and excited to keep listening. There is also a satisfying paranormal element to this story that at first I was suspicious of, but then grew to really enjoy. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a thriller involving conspiracy theories, the government, shoot outs, bad guys and some good old fashioned romance. Greg Hernandez gives a fabulous voice performance! "Wisdom Spring" gets a 10/10 from me.

Great book, not so great narration

This was an extremely interesting novel. I loved the concept that the author was shooting for. I found the characters engaging and extremely interesting. I am very sorry to say that I just didn't care for the narration though. It just seemed like he was trying to hard to me.

Really good adventure

I usually don't care for anything that has politics in it, but....I LOVED THIS BOOK! So much action and quirky characters that you can't help but smile.

Intriguing Thriller with a paranormal twist

Wisdom Spring was a fun read from start to end. Twists and turns abound in this fast-paced thriller along with some clever rouses. Jon, the main character, is engaging and I love the twist with Jess hearing a helpful voice in her head; the voice sent the story in unexpected directions. Greg's delivery was well done; he became the main character allowing me to experience the story all the more.

If you're a fan of Clive Cussler's treasure hunting duo, the Fargos, you'll love Jess and Jon's adventure. It has one hell of an ending.

Great Thriller

Both the author and narrator were new to me. I really liked this book with all of the twists and turns. The narrator did a great performance with various voices. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. That said, I really liked the story. I found it to be original, yet some aspects were little far fetched, but this is fiction. I would say this book is a thrilling diversion from everyday. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher.
