About this listen

There's nothing like a good-ol'-boy wolf. And ace security expert Ricky Lee Reed serves, protects, and seduces with all the right moves.... Sure, Toni Jean-Louis Parker has to be the responsible oldest sister to a crazy-brilliant clan of jackal siblings. But now she's cutting loose for some hot, sweaty, no-commitments fun - and the sexy, slow-talking, swift-moving predator assigned to keep her family safe is just the right thing to shapeshift her love life into overdrive. Trouble is, he's starting to get all obsessive wolf on her every time he looks in her direction.

Getting serious about anyone isn't in Ricky Lee Reed's plans. Hell, even now he doesn't really have a plan - outside of catching whomever is threatening this dangerously brilliant family. But the more he sees of Toni, the more he's howling for her. And whatever it takes to convince her that what they have is everything, well, this wily wolf is down for the sizzling chase.

A snarkfest plus HOCKEY!

snark-fest, humor, shifters, urban-fantasy, contemporary, romance

Never read this author before, but I enjoyed this so much that I will be hunting up the rest of the series. The situations and dialog kept me laughing throughout. The family of prodigy jackals are just as wacky as the werewolves, and the rest of the werefolk are just perfect for the hockey venue! Get clues from the publisher's blurb, then get reading!

Funny and Sweet with awesome narration

Toni and Ricky are darling together. I love how laid back and chill Ricky is to Toni’s insanity. These are best listened to in order as you will come to truly love the “supporting cast”. Blayne and Bo are my favorites and you get to check in with them quite a bit in this and next one. This is Laugh Out Loud funny, especially with Toni’s siblings and the narration is perfection. The fact these are all included in the Romance Package is Christmas coming early. : )

Good book to add to the series

The beat part of the book was the kids, I couldn’t stop laughing at them! I also like how protective Toni was of them. She and Ricky Lee made a good match and I liked that he always had her back. I also liked how the author made sure to still keep all the other characters were connected to Toni somehow because after reading the synopsis I wasn’t sure how she would do that with the Parker’s being new characters. I would recommend this book it was a good listen.

Really good job on the characters and the story

I loved the protagonists they are very entertaining. The hockey team, honey 🍯 badger. Russian bears, and the Magnus Pack added interest and expanded the story line exponentially. The families of both main characters are explored and expanded knowledge of the world they all live in.

Are you my Daddy?

Another hit from Shelly Laurenston. This series is just fun with a bunch of crazy characters, you just never know what to expect from the shifters. Of course this series needs to be read in order, there is just too much going on from other stories not to. Although this book is one of my favorites the romance wasn't quite as good as others, only because there wasn't as much focus on it. Of course the straight up madness of everything makes up for it. Same narrator as the rest and she does a great job.

A- rating overall...

My Review:
Overall: 4.25
Performance: 4.0
Story:4.25

This is one of those series that I read the first book ages ago and LOVED it. But I can never find time to slide the books into my jam-packed read pile, although I think I own all of them. So when this audio came up on a special sale at some point in time, I snagged it knowing that it's sometimes easier for me to sneak in audio reading rather than print reading.

I slid this one in out of order, but I enjoyed it thoroughly, nonetheless. Toni is an awesome character. She's the eldest of ten siblings and is the only one who is not a prodigy. But whether she is a prodigy or not, she is a superior organizer. She keeps the lives and schedules of her ten very talented, very busy, very demanding siblings organized. Unfortunately, those ten are pretty narcissistic...the same as their mother. So very few of them really appreciate the huge efforts Toni makes on their behalf. So far, her career has been her family. She wants and deserves more. I adore how she gets her job with the hockey team. She's just one of those no-nonsense characters who I truly fell in love with. And I could feel for her just because although she's incredibly resourceful and smart, being compared to her siblings constantly would drive down anyone's self-confidence. Yet, Toni still rises above all that...over and over again. She is so freaking smart.

Then there's Ricky Lee. His character was awesome through the audiobook, because the narrator nailed his laid back, southern charm and accent. That alone added so much to the story. He seems like he's almost lazy, but when it comes to his security firm and job, he is a serious take-charge guy. I loved that we got to see both sides of him. It made him an great character.

I haven't read a whole lot of Shelly Laurenston's books, but from what I have read, I love her snark and wit. Her books are laugh out loud fun and funny. So entertaining to read and this one definitely fell along that line, too. I constantly found myself giggling at the antics of the characters in the book, especially the males. But the kids are just as funny. Kyle...I can't imagine dealing with him in real life, but in the book, he was awesomely entertaining. The set-up is fabulously fun and you can't help but to admire Toni for her perseverance. But I also loved how Ricky loved to just sit back and watch her maneuver the world around her. He takes such pure joy from her skills and you could see that in the story. I loved the two of them together. They seem like an unlikely couple, but they work so brilliantly together.

I truly enjoyed this book and the audio of it was absolutely fantastic. There are so many voices and Charlotte Kane was brilliant creating so many different ones. I highly recommend it.
