About this listen

Nadine Bayani was at the top of her game. The brilliant, ruthless lawyer was in line to be White House chief of staff - until she confessed to campaign finance crimes that cost her party the election.

Now Nadine's out of prison, broke, hated by millions, and stuck doing a menial retail job in rural Virginia where she barely earns enough to survive.

Bella Clarke has worked at Overstock Oasis since she flunked college. She wants to go back to school but secretly doubts she's smart enough. At least she's not as clueless as her boss, who just accidentally hired the woman responsible for a national scandal.

However, Nadine seems to be nothing like the crook portrayed in the media, and Bella is drawn to her troubled, standoffish coworker. As they grow closer, Nadine introduces Bella to the delights of Filipino food and opens Bella's eyes to her own possibilities.

Before long, about the only thing harder to make sense of than Nadine's past is their powerful chemistry together. Is Bella really falling for a woman who caused so much harm? And even if she is, how can two such different people ever be a match?

Contains mature themes.

Slow burn romance with a dash of political drama

Listen, this is amazing. The characters are charming and they feel real. The issues between Nadine and Bella make a lot of sense and there's no miscommunication issues that makes you dislike the characters. The drama is engaging, angsty, but not too much. The political drama is interesting, too, even if it's not the true focus. The love scenes are hot. And it has a happy ending. Plus, who doesn't love a short butch?

And yes, the narration is wonderful but that shouldn't surprise you because it's Anastasia Watley.

If you like slow burn romances with a dash of political drama then this is the book for you.

See everyone you meet with a heart of love. Worthy

This is a magnificent book make more spectacular by Anastasia Watley's narration. Nadine has had a difficult few years and leaving prison she finds things worth. She meets Bella who gives her something she has not seen much- kindness. The difficulty Nadine has getting a job and an apartment is tribute to a broken system. The judgement, pure hate and unforgiveness just feels to close to our current world. Bella helps remind us love conquers all. truth rules the day and these characters are so good I just love them. Bravo Quinn Ivan's I love this real life romance.

Worthy ??

Angst and political drama, pretty good premise. The book dragged at times, but it touched on issues (racial) that need to be addressed. Overall a decent listen. EXCELLENT narrator, so that kept me listening.

What A Wonderful Story!!!

Quinn Ivins has given us a wonderful story about strength, love, courage and perseverance. Anastasia Watley performed brilliantly and brought each character to life, infusing each scene with charm and quality. Quinn Ivins sprinkled the story with laugh out loud moments, alleviating some of the tension of the dramatic chapters. Overall this audio is worthy of a listen.

Anastasia Watley Makes it Worthwhile

I really wish Anastasia Watley narrated more books. And not just ones that have characters with southern accents. This book’s non-romance story is a little bit big for what this book is. The romance was nice, though.

New author to me and I loved it

The writing and narration were both very good. I loved the southern accent of one of the characters. It's a book about self doubt and hope and that the truth can prevail. It's my first book by this author but I've already obtained two more, one of which has the same narrator and the narrator for the other book is well known to me. Definitely one I'll listen to again!
