Every day, three times a day, the students march in two straight lines, singing praises to Kim Jong-il and North Korea: Without you, there is no motherland. Without you, there is no us. It is a chilling scene, but gradually Suki Kim, too, learns the tune and, without noticing, begins to hum it. It is 2011, and all universities in North Korea have been shut down for an entire year, the students sent to construction fields - except for the 270 students at the all-male Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (PUST).

Story
If you're a man of a certain age you'll know there comes a point in life when getting a sports car and over-analysing your contribution to society sounds like a really good idea. With a good job in sales and marketing and a nice house in Manchester that he shared with his wife and kids, John Bishop was no different when he turned the dreaded 4-0. But instead of spanking a load of cash on a car that would have made him look like a senior stylist at Vidal Sassoon, he stumbled onto a pathway that ultimately lead him to become one of the nation's best loved comedians.

Story
Biddy Weir is a quirky girl. Abandoned by her mother as a baby, and with a father who's not quite equipped for the challenges of modern parenting, Biddy lives in her own little world, happy to pass her time painting by the sea and watching the birds go by. That is, until she meets Alison Flemming. Because there are a few things about Biddy that aren't normal, you see. And Alison isn't afraid to point them out to the world. All of a sudden, Biddy's quiet life is thrown into turmoil. If only there was someone to convince her that, actually, everyone's a little bit weird....

Interesting and entertaining stories
I enjoyed hearing the stories about the students, other teachers and parents from the teachers point of view. Things have changed so much since I was in school it was eye opening to hear about how students and parents threatened this teacher all the time. Teachers are under appreciated for sure. The author does a great job relating the stories and his observations in a fun and interesting way, it is a great book to listen on a road trip.

Cant Believe That Happened!
I thoroughly enjoyed listening about all the crazy stories of this secondary school teacher. A couple of them had my heart pumping and racing, hoping he was going to come out okay by the end. Also, it's fun hearing that UK accent having lived there for a couple of years myself.

An unexpected view of the education system
Being an American, some of the terminology used was unfamiliar to me regarding the different educational tiers, particularly for what we call elementary, junior high (or middle school) and high school, These designations are not uniform throughout the USA, though, so I figured it out with a little help from Google. I had expected something more comedic but this is certainly very amusing as well as informative. Some things are the same, wherever kids are kids, but the methods for dealing with the challenges differ.
I think this teacher was very thoughtful, wise and compassionate to his students. That makes a good teacher in any country.
Well written and beautifully read. I recommend this book.

Amazing Choice
The tales contained in this audiobook are astounding and entertaining. It is written professionally, and the narrator's tone is both soothing and exciting. I found that this book was simple and fascinating, making it easier for me to continue listening. It was exciting to hear a teacher of secondary school students relate their experiences with students, parents, and colleagues. In addition, hearing a teacher of secondary school students recount their experiences was as fascinating as a real-life experience. In general, listening to the book was a one-of-a-kind experience, and every educator can identify with this sentiment to some extent.
In conclusion, I thought the whole thing to be quite uplifting and inspiring. This is an excellent book for anyone who is a parent or works with children. And I highly recommend it.

Eye opening and entertaining at the same time!
When one thinks of becoming a teacher, you always wonder what is going to be like and what you could expect. Of course you have your memory from years ago and you have an idea of what it could be, but the reality is that the world has changed so much in the last 20 years, and so the work of a secondary teacher.
I liked that the book is really narrated with humor and sarcasm, which makes it really easy to enjoy and digest. It brings both the challenges that a teacher must face but also shares the positive aspects of it. in my opinion, it comes across as very authentic, bringing a clear image of what one can expect if decides to become a teacher.
Overall, I found it even really entertaining as the author showcased a great deal of sense of humor, so it was not only informative but also a funny read. One can totally relate to some of the things that happen in class! It's interesting to see that no matter the background, one can see the version of themselves from when they were a kid.

Enjoyable and Entertaining!
"You Couldn't Make This Up!" by Mark MacDonald is such a unique and fun book! MacDonald mixes humor and sarcasm in the stories that is delightful. You will find this audiobook to be well narrated. MacDonald's cadence and tone keep you engaged. I found this book to be well written and formatted for the reader's enjoyment. As I listened to the experiences shared I was transported back into some of my memories of secondary school. This is a book for parents, teachers, caregivers, and those who work with kids. We trust our children to teachers everyday. I found it intriguing to get the teacher' reality! Highly recommend!
