It takes a whole lot of courage and confidence to interact and converse with others, especially when we have no idea of who they are and what they can do.

Story
While literacy is taken for granted in modern society, there’s another essential aspect of communication that is often overlooked: social intelligence. Without it, our personal and professional relationships suffer shallowness and often fizzle out. Networking, romance, and friendships are all incredibly challenging without a healthy level of social awareness. Unlike learning to read, however, many of us don’t become socially “literate” until far later in life; and even then, the journey towards true social intelligence is usually characterized by trial and error.

S.U.M.O. stands for Shut Up, Move On. It's a phrase to say to ourselves (and sometimes others) when we are acting or thinking in a way that is hindering our ability to succeed. It doesn't necessarily mean "get over it" or "pull yourself together" (although there may be occasions when both responses are necessary): "Shut Up" means stop what you're doing, take time out to reflect, let go of baggage and beliefs that hinder your potential; "Move On" means tomorrow can be different from today, look for new possibilities, don't just think about it, take action.

Whatever is happening to us outside of our workplace - whether stressful, painful, or joyful - follows us into work as well. We may think we have to keep these realities under wraps and act as if we “have it all together”. But as Mike Robbins explains, we can work better, lead better, and be more engaged and fulfilled if - instead of trying to hide who we are- we show up fully and authentically.

What do you need besides motivation and willpower? In Commit to Win, Heidi Reeder, PhD, unpacks over forty years of research by psychologists and economists to show that the key to reaching any goal, whether it’s to hit the gym more often or to finally quit that dead-end job, isn’t motivation, willpower, or determination. It’s commitment. Busting the myths most of us believe about commitment, Reeder shows that it all comes down to four variables.

Don’t be fooled by the word free
I have known Kurt for six years and I have been with him in a variety of situations. I know how passionate he is about all of us being a better version of ourselves particularly through the humility of self-awareness and the motivation of kindness.
I have constantly gone back to the test he is offering you as a free resource. It has helped me understand the people I work with better as well as my own family members and friends. I say beyond a shadow of a doubt that it will help you understand yourself better specifically as it relates to your instinctive drives.
How can any of us optimize the important relationships in our life unless we take the time to do so? This is a minimal investment for maximum results!
