Publisher's summary

Nothing incites Marcus more than the primal hunger roused by his former fiancée, Elizabeth. It’s been years since she jilted him for another man, but that only means there’s a lot to catch up on, a lot to make up for, and that he’s going to enjoy every sweet moment.… The same drive and passion that sent her into another man’s arms is what brings Elizabeth back to Marcus. Her attraction to him is the one thing she fears, but she’s run out of options. Resisting is impossible. But does she have the courage to surrender everything?

A historical version of 50 shades, not as engaging

Any additional comments?

Great sex scenes but overall I had a hard time reading it for some reason. The story was not as engaging as I had hoped. I gave it a 3 star just for the romance scenes and although I like Justine Eyre, for some reason I did not like her as much in this book. It is worth the read if you get a lot out of the tumbles in the bed but otherwise a C-

Pride & Prejudice Meets 50 Shades of Grey

Would you consider the audio edition of Ask for It to be better than the print version?

The audio edition is better than the print version because of the narrator's accent and performance. The English accent helps to propel you back into time and gain a fuller experience of the book.

What other book might you compare Ask for It to and why?

Ask for it is a unique hybrid between Pride and Prejudice and 50 Shades of Grey. It takes all that we love about Pride and Prejudice and 50 shades of grey and intertwines them into a romantic mystery. It effectively combines Mr. Darcy and Christian Grey into Marcus and Elizabeth Bennett and Anastasia Steele into Lady Hawthorne, also Elizabeth. Ask for It takes the leap we all wished for in Pride and Prejudice which makes it that much more stunning.

What does Justine Eyre bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Justine Eyre brings to the book her accent which you would not be able to experience in just reading the book. It takes you back in time so you can actually feel the characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The book had several great moments and was the ultimate search for oneself and the love that once was.

Pleasantly surprised!

Would you consider the audio edition of Ask for It to be better than the print version?

Loved the audio...I have not read a print version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Marcus and Elisabeth as a couple but if I had to pick one it would be Elisabeth for
her feisty nature and strong will!

What does Justine Eyre bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A beautiful, soulful voice that brought this book to life!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Spice in the 1700's!

Any additional comments?

I resisted this series for as long as I could and was pleasantly surprised, it was a beautiful
love story with a little action and suspense, I will continue on....

Great Story, Excellent Performance!

It took me a chapter or so to settle into this book. The characters are many and complex, but the narrator does a wonderful job of differentiating the voices. The plot is well-paced and the love scenes are so steamy that it’s difficult to drive safely while listening to them!

Narrator is decent

Kind of an enemies to lovers. Period piece. Lords and Ladies. Spicy. HEA. Has a pirate. Secret agents. TW for some dubcon and weapons violence.

Regency porn

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not really time well spent. I thought it would be a modern-ish Regency novel. It is not. It is actually porn. My own fault - i bought it because of the narrator, not realizing she also does this kind of thing.

What could Sylvia Day have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

It's probably fine for what it is. Just not what I'm interested in.

What about Justine Eyre’s performance did you like?

She is as usually very good. I bought the book because she's the narrator, not realizing that this is, well, special-genre fiction.

Could you see Ask for It being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I would not want to see this as a movie but I'm sure there is a market for it.

Any additional comments?

If you like dominance erotica/pornography you may like this book. If you are looking for something a bit more Georgette Heyer stay away!

Loved it, not the same old boring story ...

If you could sum up Ask for It in three words, what would they be?

Different, enduring and hot

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ask for It?

The first time, it is way out there, but certainly hot and part of their history! Not offensive.

Have you listened to any of Justine Eyre’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Love Justine Eyre, she did a great job!
