About this listen

Jake Maxfield, the sexy, blue-eyed banker who's recently seen his mortgage career end in the midst of economic downturn, inherits a property in a rural Texas town. The widowed father of two relocates from Southern California only to find that the one thing he never expected has happened and will change his life and everything he'd previously thought about himself forever. The person he meets and falls in love with is nothing like his dead wife, Molly. Instead Jake finds his soul mate in the form of Cade Littlebear, a huge hunk of long-haired male biker all wrapped up in a drop-dead leather-clad package. Jake and Cade find that combining their lives and their teenaged families is work enough for the faintest of heart, but their greatest challenge lies ahead. Their very lives are threatened by a narrow-minded group of bigots who set out to destroy their very existence. They are determined not to hide who they are and live in the shadows. From the boardroom to the back of a chopper, these sexy heroes, Jake and Cade, burn up with love scenes that give new meaning to the word hot.

What's the Hurry?

I found it very difficult to listen to this book as Mann read very quickly and did not seem to vary the pace.

Such nice surprise

4 Blue Roses
4 Blue Flames

Narrator D. L. Mann grows on you as slow as moss on a palm tree in the desert. Very fucking slowly and when it happens, it’s a fucking miracle. Don’t misunderstand me, it can happen. I actually listened to another audiobook by this man and now, no one compares. On top of it all, the author writes so well I want to listen to more and so the vicious cycle of Armadillo began. The narrator talks extremely fast, I don’t hear him take any breaths. If I slow him down to normal listening speed 1.0, I can actually hear what the man is trying to say. To top that up with weirdness, I turned it back to my normal listening speed at 1.25. and enjoyed it for what he uniquely is.

I love the covers of this series, it’s a little different from the usual naked torsos. Not that I complain about naked torso’s. But, this cover including the weird ass new narrator guaranteed no complaints of any boredom.

The plot was believable, it started out a little “I’m going to wring your neck if you say again you are not gay”, but the repetition and self talk stopped and the story picked up with some real nasty angst and drama. I loved the audiobook tremendously. Lots of twists and turns as well as original sexy times. I loved how Jake dominated Cade. It came naturally to them and it was not peppered with cliched BDSM lingo.

I do recommend this audiobook. I promise you, if you can get used to the narrator, you will enjoy the fresh mm romance as much as I did.

Happy Listening

Some problems

I liked the story but the narration was just ok, add on to that that the sound editing missed a few places that ended up skipping I had to lower the star count.

leathery goodness

It is a good solid story and I liked it allot. The Narrator, I think he did well better than some I've listened to. The flow was off and I just adjusted my kindle to read slower, all was fine.

Leather Nights by Patricia Logan

D.L.Mann is an excellent narrator. I could listen to his voice for hours:) The story was romantic and hot as hell! I gladly read most of Patricia Logan’s writings and look forward to her next book.

Interesting Romance, Very Nicely Done

I haven't read a book by Patricia Logan in too long. I enjoyed Leather Nights. A story about two widowers with teenagers, first time gay for one of them. There is quite a bit of bigotry though in this small Texas town, so be warned if that is a trigger for you.

Logan writes a nice connection between these men, and I enjoyed the way they blended their families together. There's crazy steamy physical romance and a lot of dirty talk (just fyi lol).

The audio version is nicely performed by D.L. Mann.

Great story. Bad reader.

Love this story. I read it a while back and was thrilled to see it in audio format. Unfortunately the guy reading it has serious pacing problems and is just not pleasant to listen to. I only made it an hour in before I had to give it up.

If you can stand the reader it really is a great story worth your time.

Bad Narration

Bad narrator. Just couldn’t get through a chapter. I’m sure the book would have been fantastic.
