Let’s go back to where we belong

Having bid Lena farewell, Shin and the surviving members of the Spearhead squadron continue into the heart of Legion territory. There, they endure countless hardships until they’re rescued by the Federal Republic of Giad, a reformed nation that offers them a second chance at a peaceful life. But it isn’t long before a sense of duty calls the Eighty-Six back to the battlefield. Choosing to enlist in the military, they willingly walk back through the gates of hell, this time joined by a peculiar new ally-Frederica Rosenfort: a haughty young girl with a rare ability and wisdom far beyond her years.

Another great 86 audiobook

If you have watched the anime you need to read/listen to the books. Book 2 fills in the gaps of what the Spearhead was doing in the Federation a little more then the Anime. You aren't going to regret listening to the book in addition to watching the show.

Too Short

I love it, I just didn't like how short it was... Like one reviewer stated. It's like book 1.5, I would advise anyone to wait for the third book to get the full experience.

An emotional roller coaster and top-tier voice acting.

I absolutely loved the second audiobook of 86 - Eighty Six! It felt like reliving the anime, but with so much more depth, emotion, and rich details that left me on a rollercoaster of emotions. There are moments hinted at in the anime that the novel fully reveals, and understanding the characters’ true motives and hidden stories has torn my heart apart even more. It’s clear that this story is a masterpiece, and after finishing this book, I have an urge to rewatch the show to pick up on the things I missed the first 10 times around.

The voice acting in this audiobook is simply top-tier. The cast sounds nearly identical to the show, and I could see and feel the characters without having to look at a screen. The range of emotion conveyed—from soft and innocent to powerful and confident—adds a richness that makes the experience unforgettable. There is so much affection, power, and pain in their performances that it draws you right into the heart of the story.

This series has quickly become one of my all-time favorites, and I’m fangirling so hard over it. I really hope the anime continues—especially after the heartbreaking passing of one of the voice actors—but I believe this story still has the potential to move forward and capture the hearts of more viewers.

As an Army Combat Medic, this story resonates with me deeply. Growing up, I dealt with feelings of being different and unwanted, but stories like 86 inspire me to embrace those struggles and grow stronger because of them. The music is also phenomenal—reminding me of the epic Attack on Titan soundtrack, with some of the same artists contributing to both.

This audiobook touched me in places I rarely allow myself to go. I’m incredibly grateful for this story, and I can’t wait to dive into the next volume. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves deep, emotionally charged stories with beautiful voice acting and an unforgettable soundtrack!

Great sequel

It’s a bit shorter than the first novel, but still a great read nonetheless. The performance of the voice actors are great and I love how they each swap every now and then to tell the different perspectives. I can’t wait for the next one.

More like a book 1.5

Its a fun read but it's basically a filler story. This book takes place between Spearhead squad going on their "special recon mission" and the big legion attack at the end of book one.
